Aqara Door Sensor Magic: Unexpected Uses!

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a few fun (and surprisingly useful) tricks I’ve found using the Aqara door sensor in my setup. I’m relatively new to the smart home game—maybe 6 months in—but these little guys have way more potential than I thought at first.

First off, I stuck one on my mailbox. Every time the mail comes in, boom—push notification. No more wondering if I should bother walking out in the rain. Super simple, but oddly satisfying.

Second, I put one inside the fridge. Yeah, I know, weird… but hear me out. I’ve got roommates, and we’ve had issues with the fridge door being left open—this thing alerts me if it’s open for more than 2 mins and even shuts off the lights in the living room as an “annoying reminder” until someone closes it.

Third and my favorite: cat detection. I attached one to the bottom of the bathroom cabinet door where the cat keeps sneaking in to nap. Now I get pinged if she’s trying to get in again, and I can catch her before she gets too cozy.

Point is, these sensors are way more flexible than just tracking windows and doors. Anyone else using them in off-label ways? Would love to hear more hacks or creative setups!
