Aqara door/window sensor on mailbox

I got tired of never knowing when my mail arrived and the various times of day the carrier might show up. I would be waiting for a specific package or letter and go check multiple times per day. So instead, I mounted an Aqara sensor inside the lid and the opening. It’s been there for 2 years and never came loose and battery life has never dropped below 90%. I made an automation through Pushcut that tells me when it’s open with a custom message. It also has a timer to let me know if it’s left open. So I always know when I get mail, if I get a 2nd notification, I know someone opened my mailbox after mail was delivered. That way I know if the kids or anyone else is tampering with my mail. It’s a great tool to have.

That’s a great idea- the new multistate Sensor P100 is also a good choice for it :v:t3:
