Aqara E1 camera not connecting to Homekit

Hello, I bought an E1 camera and can’t connect it to HomeKit. It connects fine to the Aqara app but whatever I try it will not connect to homekit.
One of the messages I get is “This accessory cannot be used with Homekit” which shouldn’t be the case.
Did this happen to anyone, any advice?

You didn’t mention how you tried to install or the sequence? Try…open the Aqara App, select accessories, choose your E1 camera then select (3 dots top right of screen)-HomeKit- select the HomeKit pairing code and try that.

Be sure to update software to the latest and the same for any firmware updates since the E1 just released an update recently.

Hope that helps?

That’s the point I tried all combinations i could think of including what you suggested. Also went to “connect to ecosystems” and the E1 does not show under homekit, other cameras/hubs do.
So this would be inline with the message that the accessory cannot be used with homekit. But why…?

Try to remove it completely. Make sure firmware is up to date and reinstall first in Aqara then HomeKit.

Are you running the apple iOS 26 beta because I did have that problem with another device and then did it with my I-dad ( not running beta) and it worked perfectly.

Tried all that and same result.

I tried with 3 different Iphones, 2 running IOS 18.6 and an older one with IOS 16.7.11, all the same. I’m beginning to think FW 4.3.6_0012 is somehow buggy or the camera itself is broken.

  1. Completely delete the Aqara Home app (clear any data).
  2. Remove the hub from the Home app (iOS) and clear any remaining gray icons with an exclamation mark.
  3. Restart your iPhone and try again.

What do you mean with point 2, remove what hub from the Home app? The camera is not connected to the Home app, and it doesn’t need a hub, it connects directly.

Have you tried scanning HomeKit accessory QR code on the camera with Home app? But please keep in mind that it must be added to the Aqara app first to work properly. And make sure it’s on the same network in case if you have multiple WiFi networks.

Yes, both with the camera added to Aqara app and fresh after resetting, both with the same result. Also on the same 2.4G WIFI.

I tried your suggestion, still the same result. Also what I noticed I have HA setup also, and from there it’s the same behavior, the camera is discovered but can’t connect.
So seems to be an issue with the Homekit controller part.

Sorry, I mean remove the Aqara E1 camera from the Apple Home app.

Yes, this is what I tried, but didn’t have what to remove from the Apple Home app because I couldn’t add it in the first place.

That seems to be what I would focus more on also, do you have any other Aqara cameras in the Apple Home App working fine?

Actually do you have any other Aqara products in the Home App working like sensors or Hub?

Are you signed into the Apple Home App as the correct person on the correct network with proper permissions?

I have over 80 devices in Aqara and Homekit. All kind including 4 other cameras working fine. All the cameras are other models G2h, G4, G100.
I’m the correct person to do anything, I set all this up.

Also with the E1 I tried adding it to a fresh/empty home/account and still same output.

Something is wrong with the camera, next thing I would try is a different E1 camera. Start fresh and keep it simple

This is also my hunch, but don’t have any other E1 at the moment.

I have the same issue. Did you resolve it?

No, no new development so far, I got a request from Aqara to connect and try to debug it but so far they didn’t yet.
