Aqara E1 wall switch and home assistant

Hi all.

I have an Aqara E1 wall switch connected directly to home assistant with MQTT.

There are two operating modes, “control relay” and “decoupled”.

When control relay is selected it operates like a normal smart switch.

But when I select decoupled the physical switch does anot work. There are also no events or anything being sent home assistant which is what I expected.

Any one know how to use this mode??

@24miles07 Hey there! I’m sorry, but I couldn’t find any relevant information about the Aqara E1 wall switch’s “decoupled” mode in the reference content. It seems this might be a bit of a mystery for now.

However, I encourage our community members to chime in and share any insights or experiences they might have with this mode. Maybe someone out there has used it successfully and can offer some guidance.

If you have any suggestions or ideas for improvement regarding this issue, you can submit manual customer service feedback. This will help ensure your thoughts are properly considered.

Let’s work together to figure this out!

@24miles07 Hi there! Thanks for sharing your experience with the Aqara E1 wall switch. It sounds like you’re exploring the “decoupled” mode but encountering unexpected behavior—where the physical switch doesn’t work and no events are sent to Home Assistant. Unfortunately, the reference information available doesn’t cover the E1 model’s specific operating modes, so I can’t provide detailed guidance on this.

Maybe other community members who have used the E1 in decoupled mode can share their insights? Your question might spark a helpful discussion. If you have suggestions for improvement or need further assistance, feel free to contact our customer service through the Aqara Home App (Profile>Help&Feedback>Customer Service) for more personalized support.

Hope you figure it out soon!

After checking our reference materials, we don’t have specific details about the E1 model’s “decoupled” mode or its interaction with MQTT in Home Assistant. Since the community is full of knowledgeable folks, maybe someone else has encountered this and can share their insights!
