Aqara FP-300 Presence Sensor

Finally got my hands on an FP300 at Amazon, just by checking often. Blinks available, then in a short time, unavailable. I caught a window.

Setup was a breeze, added to Z2M Zigbee running in Docker linked to HAOS via MQTT.

Not even familiar with the Aqara app but fudged my way through.

Opened app, something about cards, chose default :person_shrugging:, selected the found FP300, chose Zigbee, it downloaded latest firmware no issues.

Backed out of app, don’t have or need a hub other than HAOS.

Added to Z2M, not found, clicked button got a couple of blinks, added, done.

After reading online, I was a little apprehensive, but all went well fairly quicky.

Kept default settings for now mostly, changed a few delay times, have to find a permanent mounting spot now. Will monitor the battery. :+1:

@dlpsr Thanks for sharing your FP300 setup journey! It’s awesome to hear you snagged one on Amazon and had a smooth experience pairing it with Z2M and HAOS—your real-world tips will definitely help others feeling hesitant about the process.

For that permanent mounting spot you’re considering, the FP300 has some handy installation recommendations: if you need broader coverage, mounting it around 2 meters high with a slight downward tilt works well, while wall or corner setups at 1.4–1.8 meters are great for covering both standing and seated positions. Also, try to avoid placing it near large metal/glass surfaces or air vents to keep detection reliable.

Looking forward to hearing how the battery performs over time and where you end up installing it—don’t hesitate to share updates later!
