Aqara FP2 Update: Enhanced Presence Detection and Automation Capabilities

I’m thrilled to share this exciting update from Aqara regarding their FP2 presence sensor. This update addresses a common issue where the sensor would incorrectly mark a zone as empty even when someone was still present, which could lead to inconvenient situations like lights turning off unexpectedly. Additionally, the update improves ‘ghosting’ issues, where the sensor might think someone is still in a room after they’ve left, potentially leaving lights on longer than intended.

The FP2 sensor is a remarkable device that can detect your presence even when you’re stationary, allowing for the creation of separate zones within a single room for different automations. It also provides nearly instantaneous detection when you leave a room, unlike traditional motion sensors that often require a timeout.

If you haven’t tried the FP2 yet, now is a great time to consider it. The video demonstrates the improvements and hints at an upcoming tutorial on setting them up optimally.

What are your thoughts on this update? Have you experienced the issues mentioned? If you’re already using the FP2, how do you plan to utilize the improved features? We’d love to hear your experiences and ideas!
