I recently purchased an FP2 sensor since I want to move my devices towards Matter and Thread (I have several FP1 sensors). I have no problem add it to Homekit with the Matter QR code, and it has “sorta worked” – a little flaky.
I thought maybe I should update the firmware but that requires having the FP2 in the Aqara app (I think). But I have an M2 Hub and it won’t let me add the FP2 to the app since that Hub doesn’t support Matter (or that’s what the error message says).
Haha, most of the newer Aqara devices allow to switch protocols, so it was safe to assume it was possible here
@lss_1 if you’re talking about the P2, then it’s Matter only, sorry. You cannot pair it with the M2. If you had the FP2 (scroll down to see how it looks like) then you would be able to pair it.
But honestly I don’t remember any update of the P2 so I don’t think you’re missing anything
I don’t think the Aqara Motion & Light Sensor P2 has the Zigbee option. It’s a Matter over Thread device (only).
I have 8 of P2’s which I uninstalled a few months back due to issues. I would use the P1 or FP300 or even the FP1E before the P2 Sensor.
I guess it depends on what you are trying to use the sensor for and the type of room or environment it will be covering.
Very confusing thread…
PS. I forgot… The Firmware update for the P2 sensor was pulled or removed by Aqara last year and there is no updates available. The current working version is 1.0.2.0x or something similar to that. Firmware 1.0.3.xx was pulled.
