Aqara G100 Camera Constantly Switching Between Night Vision and Normal Mode at Night

Hi Aqara team and community,

I’ve been experiencing an issue with my Aqara G100 camera where it keeps switching between night vision mode and normal mode throughout the night.

According to the event timeline in the Aqara app:
• The blue sections indicate the camera is in normal mode, but during those times, the environment is completely dark.
• The non-blue sections are when night vision (IR) mode is activated as expected.

The camera seems to incorrectly detect ambient lighting conditions and switches modes frequently—even when it’s pitch dark. This constant switching is affecting the reliability of the footage and may even impact motion detection accuracy.

Is there a known fix for this? Or is there a setting that controls the threshold for switching between modes?
I’ve already ensured the firmware is up to date.

I have the same problem. I disabled night vision mode in the camera settings, so that annoying noise when switching is no longer heard. To make matters worse, the camera also does this in private mode when it’s off, and in my opinion, this definitely shouldn’t be happening. When the camera is off, it shouldn’t do anything at all. I’ve contacted Aqara Support.

I discovered that the trigger for me is the changing lighting conditions in the living room. Usually when everything is dark and only the TV is on.

The G100 camera just received a software update, which, among other things, states that the issue I mentioned above may have been resolved. I noticed that the camera, even though it was in private mode, still switched between normal and infrared view. The clicking when switching quickly got on my nerves, so I disabled this feature in the “Video” settings. I’m curious to see how it behaves now. For software versions, see screenshots.

The new firmware 4.3.7_0010 should fix this problem, if it continues after the update, then please write in this thread.

Thank you for this screenshot. I’ve yet to receive the update for all 4 G100 camera I own. Will update once I updated and tested it out.
