I have found the matter signal a bit hit and miss occationaly, But what I done to combat this, was create a imput boolean switch Called doorbell switch.

then a automation that if matter signal doorbell occupancy changes from clear to occupied then turn boolean switch doorbel switch on, wait 5 seconds then turn input boolean doorbel switch off.

I then use that input boolean switch for all automations related to it.

I found that scrypted was more complicated than I wanted to dig into.

Instead I solved this by getting the $30 Aqara m100 hub, which exposes the G400 as a Matter device with all the needed entities including the doorbell itself.

Update: I’m now using the Aqara Matter Bridging feature, and that appears to work great.

Instructions.

Step 1: Create a Virtual Signal in the Aqara App

  1. Open the Aqara Home App on your phone

  2. Go to your Profile (bottom right corner) > Connect to Ecosystems > Matter

  3. Select Scene and Signal Sync and tap Signal Management

  4. Tap the + (plus icon) in the upper right corner to create a new signal

  5. Under IF , select Add > find your doorbell camera > select Doorbell Ringing

  7. Give it a clear name (such as Doorbell Pressed)

  8. Make sure the “Add to Matter” check box is selected and tap OK

  9. Under Select execution device , choose your M100 Hub and tap Complete

Step 2: Configure the trigger in Home Assistant

Your Aqara Hub will immediately push this virtual signal to Home Assistant via your existing Matter connection

  1. Go to your Home Assistant dashboard. You should see a new Matter entity discovered (typically a binary_sensor or occupancy_sensor named after your virtual signal)

  2. Update your automations to trigger when this new sensor changes state from off to on

Thank you for this, I upgraded frot G4 to the G410 today, because of Home Assitant. Apple Home is still my primary smart home system.

I added the G410 via matter and created the scene sync to get the ring action into home assistant. After that I enabled rtsp in the aqara app and added the doorbell as a camera to the go2rtc. Then I found your integration and changed my go2rtc setup according to the instructions and added the card to my dashboard.

I managed to get it going, by that I mean I get audio and video from the doorbell, but despite my ipad asking for the microphone permission, I don’t hear any audio comming out from the doorbell itself. Is there any more steps involved to get it going?
