Aqara G400 extra chime

Hello,

I’m super happy with my Aqara G400 but want to add a extra chime.
Can i buy the same one that comes with the G400 separatly?
In the manuAl has written that it’s possible to add up to 5 chimes i remember. So now i have one en want to add a second one.

Hi and welcome.

I don’t think you can buy the chime separately. When the manual mentions supporting up to 5 units, it most likely means you can link multiple doorbells (for example, if you have different entrances) to ring together, rather than adding multiple chimes to a single doorbell.

As a workaround, you can use almost any Aqara device that has a built-in speaker and supports ringtones. You just need to set up a simple automation:

  • Trigger: When the doorbell is pressed
  • Action: Play a sound/ringtone on the device

Excellent options for this include the Hub M1S Gen 2, the M3 Hub, or the Camera Hub G5 Pro.

Additionally, if you are using Apple Home, you can easily set your HomePod or HomePod mini to act as an extra chime, which will automatically ring when someone presses the button.

Hello, welcome to the forum. If you have an Aqara gateway with a speaker (M3, M2, Aqara cameras), you can create an automation to play sound when you press the doorbell.

Thank you for your welcome and reply.
I thougt it was possible true the manual but maybe a hub is a good solution.
won’t use it for anything else than as a speaker so thats why i was looking for a extra chime.

Yes @france_dominique I also supposed that an extra chime will be available for G400 to buy separately and able to bind to it! But atm it’s not available or released yet. Maybe @Aqara_PM_Donie knows if it will be available?!?

My research said the m1s has the best speaker. Does it have the same sounds as the orginal chime?

Well, I have the G410, and you can choose the ringtone and how many times it rings. Or you can set any sound (MP3).

For the hub speakers, this can only be done via automation, where you have other tones available, or you can also set any sound (MP3).

So you could set an MP3 and would generally have the same sound.

Hello
I’ve a G4 Doorbell and use a Hub M1S Gen2 as second chime… this solution has the ‘bonus’ to let you use the LED ring as a visual aid, or even as a silent ring at night.

Yes , that’s a nice idea! And there’s of course an option to make any smart light to a visual door bell

Hello everybody,

Just wanted to know that I have added a hub m1s to my setup to use it as a second chime.
I placed it in the hall downstairs. The sound is good and the same one as the original chime.

The original china has moved to the end of the living room next to the garden door so we can hear the doorbell in the garden.

Great :+1: I still have my M1S in use! It’s a nice night light for me too

I’m glad to hear that the community was able to help you. If you ever want to add coloured lights or LED lights to your smart home that also notify you when someone rings the doorbell, please let us know.
