Aqara H2 Switch US Setup with Apple Home

I had some trouble getting my Aqara H2 US Switches setup correctly in the Apple Home app. I originally set my switches up using Zigbee because I had the M2 hub at the time I set them up. I recently upgraded to the M3 hub and after migrating my devices I changed to the Thread protocol for the Switches. The issue I’m having is that the Switches are exposed to HomeKit as Lights and I am not able to change it to a switch. This makes grouping my accessories and using them in automations much more difficult or altogether impossible. Does anyone know how to get the switches to show up as switches in the Apple Home App?

@kyle_corona_84 It sounds like you’re experiencing a common issue when moving your Aqara H2 US Switches from Zigbee to Thread protocol in the Apple Home app, where they appear as lights instead of switches. Unfortunately, the reference information doesn’t directly address this specific issue with the Apple Home app. This kind of behavior might be due to how HomeKit identifies and categorizes devices, which sometimes defaults devices to certain profiles like “lights.”

Here’s a general tip that might help: After switching the protocol, ensure that you have removed the device completely from the Apple Home app and then re-added it. This sometimes helps in resetting how the device is recognized. Also, check if there are any firmware updates available for your switches or the Aqara hub, as updates can sometimes resolve these types of integration quirks.
