Aqara Hacks: Unexpected Ways to Use Your Devices

So I’ve been playing around with my Aqara gear recently, and I stumbled into a couple of weird-but-awesome use cases I didn’t think would work… but they do. Figured I’d share, and hopefully, others can too.

One of my favorites: I rigged a Motion Sensor inside my mailbox (yep) and hooked it up through a relay to my M2 hub. Now every time the mail gets delivered, I get a notification plus a quick snapshot from the outdoor cam pointed at the box. No more rainy sprints to an empty mailbox.

Another fun one — I stuck a Vibration Sensor on the washing machine. When it stops moving, I get a heads-up on my phone. No more forgetting laundry till it smells funky.

It’s these little random ideas that make me love messing with home automation. Anyone else got oddball Aqara uses they’ve tried? Let’s hear ‘em. I might need another excuse to buy more devices.

These are perfect examples of how versatile and fun home automation can be!
