Aqara home app Dark mode

I’m using Aqara home app for a while and every evening(night) time when I dimm all smart lights and want to open the Aqara home app I get disappointed by bright (white) background.

My phone is set to dark mode and I like all the apps that adopts it.

Is there a way to change app theme to dark mode on all pages?

If not, then Is that a hard thing to do for developers or am I the only one getting disappointed of it while using the app?

Can I expect that in the future?

Hi, welcome to the forum.
@AqaraOfficial please accept this offer.
I am also annoyed by the white light of the application in the middle of the darkness.

As far as I know, the Aqara Home app does not have a dark mode.

If you use an iPhone, there is a workaround you can use.

You can invert colors for specific apps under

Settings > Accessibility > Per-App Settings

Here, you can add an app and then choose to enable or disable settings like Smart Invert for that specific app.

It may be possible to control the option using shortcuts so that it is only activated at night. But I’m not sure about that. If you’re interested, let me know and I’ll take a closer look.

Really a good workaround, I didn’t knew there is a per app setting I can choose on IOS.

Just tried it and unfortunately it also inverts the camera feed and doesn’t do invert all that smartly.

Anyway, thanks so much for the idea!
Still might be better than the original one most of the time.

I absolutely support this, as it is also recommended in Apple’s human interface guidelines for developers.

Ensure that your app looks good in both appearance modes.
In addition to using one mode or the other, people can choose the Auto appearance setting, which switches between the light and dark appearances as conditions change throughout the day, potentially while your app is running.

Avoid offering an app-specific appearance setting.
An app-specific appearance mode option creates more work for people because they have to adjust more than one setting to get the appearance hey want. Worse, they may think your app is broken because it doesn’t respond to their systemwide appearance choice.

That must be a bug, because the text under the Smart Invert option says that images and media are not affected. Too bad.

This is also relevant for me.

Here are a few more supporting arguments for dark mode, as outlined in the Material Design Guidelines for Android developers :innocent:

Dark theme is available in Android 10 (API level 29) and higher. It has the following benefits:

  • Reduces power usage by a significant amount, depending on the device’s screen technology.
  • Improves visibility for users with low vision and those who are sensitive to bright light.
  • Makes it easier to use a device in a low-light environment.

This is definitely a must having said that I set my theme to a dark mode in the app for now so it’s always dark.
