Aqara Hub M3 — Firmware Update Failed, Error 993005 (Server-Side Issue)

Hi all,

I’ve been unable to update the firmware on my Aqara Hub M3 and I’m confident this is a server-side issue rather than anything local. I’m posting here in the hope that Aqara staff can investigate and that others experiencing the same problem can add their voice.
Firmware
From 4.3.6_0029
To 4.5.45_0017

The error:
Every firmware update attempt fails with: Firmware update failed — Unknown error (993005)
The download begins and reaches approximately 35% before failing consistently.

What I’ve tried:

  • Two separate Aqara Hub M3 units, bought at the same time
  • Two different Android phones
  • Two completely different locations with different routers and ISPs
  • Multiple power cycles of the hub and router
  • Clearing the Aqara Home app cache and signing out/in
  • Attempting at different times of day

Did you turned on automatic update in the firmware update settings?

What that have to do with the update?as personally I have it off and I could update it manually without issue my M3

Hello, welcome to the forum. My recommendation is to postpone the update for one day. Maybe there are some temporary problems on the server side. I had this happen to me once with another device.

For sure as Aqara were on holiday till yesterday

By the way, when I have a problem I check these two things.

  1. I turn off WiFi 5.
  2. I turn off VPN.
