Aqara Life: One App, Inifinite Personalities

Hey folks,

To celebrate the forum’s one-year anniversary, we are excited to introduce Aqara Life to all of you. :star_struck:

Remember that creative brainstorm we ran back in March?

:point_right: What if you could design your own device plugins?

You guys came up with some pretty incredible ideas, and we understood the passion for making your tools truly yours. So here’s something different: if you’re tired of every device looking and working the same way, give Aqara Life a spin. Here where you can switch up how your devices behave on the fly.

In this app, devices break free from their factory-default interfaces. A device can use a myriad of plugins for repurposing and customization. Through “plugin-powered extensibility,” you can swap in different giving the device entirely new behavior logic and interaction methods. This means that the same device, in different users’ hands, can present completely different use forms.

Scene 1: Make Your Lights Play

Take a smart bulb for example, it can now do a lot more than lighting and mood. In Aqara Life, it becomes part of the game. Plugin-enabled lights sync with gameplay. Tap, swipe, or interact through custom control panels for real-time engagement. Your smart home shifts from “thing you command” to “thing you play with.”

Scene 2: Repurposing Sensors in Creative Ways

For another example, a common water leak sensor traditionally only detects water leaks. However, in Aqara Life, by installing a plugin, it can be redefined as a “fish tank water level monitor.” When it detects the “water present” state, it means the water level is normal; when it detects the “no water” state, it indicates that the water level is too low and needs to be replenished. These plug-ins allow users repurpose devices in new and creative ways.

How to Get the Aqara Life MVP:

What’s Supported Right Now

We’re starting lean. Only select device plugins are live, but if you’ve got a decently large Aqara Home setup, just log in with your Aqara account and sync your devices over to try it out.

  • Devices: 23 types supported for import
  • Plugin Store: Currently available for lights, switches, door/window sensors, and water leak sensors

Where’s This Headed?

We don’t believe in one-app-fits-all. As AI evolves, so will how you interact with your home. Aqara’s actively exploring AI-powered features that turn your ideas into reality, transforming traditional IoT gear into genuinely fun life experiences.

We Want to Hear From You

This is a direction we are exploring, not a finished product.

1. Already using our gear? Tell us what your ideal “Life” looks like. What playful ideas do you want to see come alive?

2. What device type needs plugins next? Curtain motors? Cameras? Smart locks? AC companions? Let us know in the comments.

3. If you could design one plugin yourself, what would it look like? What would it do?

Jump into the comment section below and we’ll keep the conversation going. And if you discover something cool in Aqara Life, post about it! Let’s explore the wild possibilities of device plugins together. :exploding_head:

It sounds great!!!. A ceiling Fan and a table fan, deshumidifiers and air purifiers… Some products to use in conjuntion with the temperature, humidity sensors and the heating control ones (W200, W600, etc). Part of the app could be designed to the confort in a room, for example

Nice idea! Maybe little to childish for daily use but maybe we get more plug ins to make it useful in daily life ! So surprise us and show us what’s possible in future :v:t3:

Is Hub M3 supported? All my devices are connected to it, but I don’t see it on the list of synced devices.

I just have “Device cannot be connected” when I view any of my devices (for example: T2 GU10 lightbulbs) in case of all my Aqara devices (most of them are Zigbee, I also have FP2, but it also cannot be connected)

This message also is shown when I open S1+ Hub and Camera Hub G3 and G350.

So for now I can only see most of my devices, but I cannot control them from this app.

Interestingly, third party Matter devices do not have this error.

Edit: I’ve just noticed that there are 6 buttons, while Apple Home and Aqara Home shows 4 (and the device has 4 Matter buttons). So there are 2 extra buttons.

How cool is that! I will immediately begin to play around with it!

But while the iOS TestFlight version works as intended, the Android version won’t open and crashes immediately on my Samsung Galaxy with Android 16.

Thank you very much for your feedback. Currently, the gameplay plugin supports some devices The supported list is as follows: Why Are Only Some Devices Synced?
For the new version of testflight, we have filtered out the unsupported device types.

Ik heb Android 17 beta op mijn Pixel 10 Pro XL staan en daar crasht de app meteen, terwijl de App op iOS prima werkt.
