Aqara light switch automations in Apple HomeKit

Hi, I have the following setup:

  1. Aqara Light Switch H2 EU (connected with neutral)
  2. Philips HUE light bulb
  3. Aqara M3 hub
  4. Philips HUE bridge
  5. Apple TV 4K + Apple Home app

Currently the switch controls the bulb where it simply turns on and off by cutting the power to the light bulb.

Now, I would like to use the decoupled switch mode to power the light bulb the whole time and create an automation to tell the smart bulb to turn itself on and off based on some signal.

But so far, I haven’t found a way to do that. Automations in HomeKit only offer to start an automation when the light switch is turned on/off which never happens in decoupled mode.

Can you please help? Thanks

[/quote]I recommend integrating the Hue hub into the Aqara app using Matter and then seeing if you can implement your automation in the Aqara app.

If you want your H2 switch to control a Hue smart bulb, you need to deactivate the H2 switch’s relay in the Aqara app. Please only do this once the connected bulb is powered! Then you have a purely wireless switch that you can assign scenes and/or bulbs to.

I have the whole thing with IKEA bulbs: an H2 switch plus a smart IKEA bulb. Since the Aqara app can also control the on/off status, you can then assign the lamp’s ON/OFF to the top of the switch, and you’d have space at the bottom of the switch to trigger another device.

You need to put the switch into a decoupled mode and relay lock in the settings.
Then the bulb should always have power, and the switch will function as a pure wireless signal for automations

Sure, but how to integrate that signal with Philips HUE bulb?

To control Hue bulbs, you first need to generate and find the Matter code for the Hue bridge in the Hue app. Then enter this code as a new device in the Aqara app. Go to New Devices and then Matter Devices. After successfully pairing, your Hue devices will be in the Aqara app and you can specify “when button 1 is pressed, then Hue bulb X will be on/off” via the Automations tab.

Thank you, this seems to work. I’m surprised that I don’t need the Apple HomeKit at all. Nice

Glad it worked out. I recomend to Do everything in one app IF possible.
