Does Aqara offer a battery powered Lightsensor in Europe which messures illumination like every 10 seconds or so? If I’m right, the Aqara P1 Motion Sensor only updates the Illumination Value if it detects Movement. Am I right?
@vwtp-kai Based on the reference information available, the Aqara Motion Sensor P1 indeed updates the illumination value primarily when it detects movement. As for a battery-powered light sensor that measures illumination every 10 seconds, the Aqara Motion Sensors, including the Motion Sensor P1, have specific illumination detection intervals and are typically associated with motion detection.
Unfortunately, there is no specific reference to a battery-operated light sensor by Aqara that updates illumination every 10 seconds available for Europe. It might be beneficial to consider community feedback or explore the latest product offerings through official channels for more up-to-date information. If you have further questions or insights, feel free to share them here!
@vwtp-kai For your first question, we currently don’t have specific information about a battery-powered Aqara light sensor available in Europe that measures illumination every 10 seconds.
For the second question, the Aqara Motion Sensor P1 does have illuminance detection as part of its “Motion+Light Detection” feature . However, the reference information doesn’t explicitly confirm whether the illumination value updates only when motion is detected. This is for reference only.
If you have more details or insights to share, the community would love to hear them! For product-related suggestions, feel free to submit feedback via the Aqara Home App (Profile>Help&Feedback>Customer Service) for further assistance.
Hi,
Your post is a few months old, but I react anyway.
I’ve bought the Aqara lightsensor T1 and I’m living in the Netherlands so it’s available in Europe.
I want to use it in combination with my Powerview shutters, but reading this I’m not sure if it’s going to work.
The OP refers to the Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P1. This sensor only updates the lux values when movement is detected.
This does not apply to the Aqara T1, which is a pure light sensor.
The P2 updates the light sensor independently from motion detection; it’s different from the older version.
If you only need the light sensor function from the T1, you can also use this one:

I received my P1 two to three months ago and it only updates its lux values in the Aqara app when there is movement. I have just checked and the last recorded value is 64 lux, whereas all the other sensors in the same room currently show <10 lux. Another problem is that the light sensor on the P1 is not shared via Matter Bridge or HomeKit.
Perhaps you meant the Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2, which can be integrated via Matter over Thread? This sensor provides lux values regardless of movement.
@Marc3k Since you’ve edited your post and changed P1 to P2, I’d like to point out again that the Aqara P2 is not necessarily a direct successor to the P1. Important to know: The P2 does not replace the P1; the difference lies in the protocol. While the P1 operates via Zigbee, the P2 uses Matter over Thread. Both models are sold side-by-side because they have different technical requirements for the gateway. Ultimately, it is a choice between the proven Zigbee standard and the new Matter over Thread technology.
I have been using the official Aqara light sensor since 2020. Adding such a sensor was no problem, I selected the motion sensor and connected the light sensor. Everything works perfectly.
This was an important sensor that controlled the lighting in the house depending on the lighting outside. With the release of automation 2.0, it became practically unnecessary ![]()
You learn something new every day. I had no idea Aqara had a standalone light sensor. It must not be available in the NA region.
Yes, I think it’s for Asia market - but previously there was also a light sensor from Mijia - this was working with Aqara too
I know @gafich10 but I just was showing the previous device of the T1
Aqara Lightsensor T1
Hello everyone, can someone tell me how to add the Aqara T1 light sensor to my app in the Europe region? I need help
Hi, I chose a motion sensor (old type) and added a light sensor. Then it worked like this😊.
Bring the sensor in connection mode - press 5 seconds- till the sensor continues blinking.
Then press the button on your hub three times
Thank you so much, it worked!
