Aqara M1S Gen 2 Hub and Sensors Configuration for an Alarm System

Hi everyone, I’ve recently purchased the Aqara M1S Gen 2 hub, thinking it would be the perfect addition to my home alarm system setup. I have various Zigbee devices like door sensors, motion sensors, and temperature and humidity sensors, and I was excited about the built-in alarm feature that the M1S offers, which I believe sets it apart from the E1 hub. However, I also have a Tuya alarm that’s 110 decibels loud, so I’m curious if integrating these two systems would be feasible.

I’ve heard some claims that while the M1S is compatible with HomeKit (iOS), it might be possible to get it working with Home Assistant. I’ve been following some threads where users have successfully integrated their M1S hubs with Home Assistant, but I’m still a bit stuck on the exact process. Let me walk you through my setup so far:

  1. Initial Setup: I removed my old Aqara hub from the Aqara app and plugged in the new M1S Gen 2. It booted up without any issues, and I added it to the app. I then re-added all my 100 devices, making sure to assign names and rooms properly. I restarted Home Assistant, but after 45 minutes, the hub still wasn’t recognized. I unplugged it, waited 10 seconds, and plugged it back in. Now, Home Assistant recognizes it as a HomeKit controller, but I’m still unable to pair it within Home Assistant itself.

  2. Challenges: The main issue I’m facing is getting the M1S hub to pair with Home Assistant. I’ve tried following several guides, but nothing seems to work consistently. I’m wondering if there’s a specific step I’m missing or if there’s a workaround someone has discovered.

  3. Questions: Does anyone have experience integrating the Aqara M1S Gen 2 with Home Assistant? Are there any specific settings or configurations I need to adjust within the Aqara app or Home Assistant to make this work? I’d also love to hear if others have successfully combined the M1S’s built-in alarm with other systems like Tuya.

I’m really excited about the potential of this hub, but I’d appreciate any guidance or tips the community can offer. Let me know if you’ve encountered similar issues or if you have a solution that worked for you!
