Aqara M3 Hub Automation of AC

Aloha everyone,

I have been having difficulty getting the Aqara M3 Hub integration with Apple Home automations. This may be more of an Apple Home issue but maybe you have recommendations that will help.

I am attempting to utilize the temperature and humidity sensors in my HomePod as the trigger (e.g., when humidity rises above 60%) to cause the M3 Hub IR blaster to turn on my AC unit.

I am experiencing that the AC is turned on by the M3 IR blaster at seemingly random times.

Has anyone else got this to work?

@jugs_hatted_6v Aloha!

It sounds like you’re on an exciting journey to automate your AC with the Aqara M3 Hub. The M3 is indeed equipped with a 360° IR blaster that can integrate with climate sensors, making it a powerful tool for smart home automation. However, as you’ve noticed, achieving smooth integration with Apple Home can sometimes be a bit tricky.

From your description, it seems like the issue might be related to how the triggers are set up in Apple Home. Here are a few tips that might help:

  1. Check the Automation Triggers: Ensure that the conditions in Apple Home are set correctly. For example, if you’re using a humidity sensor to trigger the AC, double-check that the threshold is set accurately and that there are no conflicting rules that might cause it to activate at unexpected times.

  2. Review the IR Blaster Setup: The M3’s IR blaster can sometimes receive commands from other remotes, which might result in unexpected behavior. Make sure that there are no other devices or remotes interfering with your setup.

  3. Firmware and App Updates: Ensure that your Aqara Hub M3 and the Apple Home app are updated to the latest versions. Sometimes, updates can resolve integration issues or bugs.

  4. Community Insights: You’ve come to the right place to ask for community help! Many users might have faced similar issues and can offer solutions that worked for them.

Feel free to share more details or screenshots if you need further assistance. We all love a good tech challenge, and your experience can certainly help others who are navigating similar paths. Keep us posted on your progress! :blush:
