Good evening,
I am currently in the process of setting up my Homey SHS, including a Homey Bridge. I have now reached the point where I want to connect the Aqara Hub M3 to the Homey system. Unfortunately, this is not working. During the setup, the Hub M3 is not detected. I received the following response from Homey Support:
Hi Markus,
Thank you for contacting our support and reporting this issue to connect Aqare Hub M3 to a Homey SHS
It seems that you simply have things that are not supported in Homey Matter. This is the conclusion of the error:
- During Matter pairing, the controller (Homey in this case) reads the device’s Device Descriptor.
- That descriptor is missing, malformed, or inconsistent with the Matter spec.
- As a result, Homey cannot validate what the device claims to be
This stops the pairing process.
So there is something in the hub, a device or something similar, or the hub itself that is not working properly, preventing the pairing from succeeding.
Could you help me with this?
Thank you very much!

@engelhard I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble pairing your Aqara Hub M3 with Homey SHS. Let’s try to troubleshoot this step by step based on the information we have.
First, ensure your Hub M3 firmware is up to date. For syncing with third-party Matter ecosystems like Homey, Aqara recommends updating the Hub M3 firmware to v4.3.7 or later. You can do this by opening the Aqara Home App, navigating to the Hub M3 device page, and checking for firmware updates.
Next, follow the standard Matter pairing process for third-party ecosystems: In the Aqara Home App, go to the Hub M3’s device page, select “Third-Party Matter Ecosystems,” then copy the Matter pairing code or save the QR code. Use this code or QR to initiate pairing in the Homey app.
Additionally, verify that your router supports IPv6, as Matter devices require IPv6 for proper connectivity. If IPv6 is disabled, enabling it (or toggling it off and on again) might help resolve descriptor-related issues.
If the problem persists after these steps, you can contact the Aqara Home App Customer Service Team (Profile> Help & Feedback > Customer Service) or scan the QR code:
This will be more efficient. If you do not have an Aqara Home account, “Please
