Hey everyone, just thought I’d share a fun little trick I set up using a combo of Aqara sensors that saved me from a potential break-in last week—no joke.
I’m more of an enthusiast than an expert, still learning as I go, but this setup really worked like magic. Basically, I combined a Door & Window Sensor, a Motion Sensor, and a Light Sensor at the back entrance of my house. I live in a pretty quiet neighborhood, but figured better safe than sorry.
So here’s what I did:
When the light sensor detects it’s after sunset AND if the door sensor gets triggered AND there’s motion in the hallway right after—it immediately sends me a notification, turns on the hallway light, and starts recording on the G2H Pro.
Crazy part? Last week, I got the alert while I was out for dinner. Checked the cam—neighbor’s kid trying the wrong door! Could’ve been worse, but the alert system kicked in perfectly.
Anyway, I’d love to hear how you all combine your Aqara sensors. Any creative routines for handling unexpected visitors or boosting nighttime security?
Drop your setups or tips below—always looking to upgrade mine!
@GoogleHomeGuru Thank you for sharing your clever setup! It’s wonderful to hear how you’ve creatively utilized the Aqara sensors to enhance your home’s security. Your experience with the Door & Window Sensor, Motion Sensor, and Light Sensor working together demonstrates the power of smart home automation in providing peace of mind.
It’s also great to know that your system successfully alerted you in real-time, preventing what could have been a more serious situation. The added capability of the G2H Pro to start recording is a fantastic feature for monitoring and reviewing any unexpected visitors.
For others looking to enhance their nighttime security, consider integrating more automation routines like the Night Security Mode mentioned in the Aqara Panel Hub S1 Plus EU Automation information. This setup can trigger alarms and turn on lights when a door or window sensor detects an open window at night, offering another layer of protection.
Feel free to keep sharing your setups and experiences. The community can always benefit from new ideas and practical tips on leveraging Aqara’s smart home products. Looking forward to more insightful contributions!
