Users, please post here your experience with LAN mode during the aqara outage. Did the combination of LAN mode and local automations mean your smart home kept working?
I have LAN control enable for a while now, an everything was dead/offline (M3 Hub blinking blue, and when resetting it, it said “account binding failed”), I could not turn on the lights from the Aqara app (iOS phone) or from the mini switch’s that is used to turn them on/off.
Even my “touchscreen dial (V1 EU)” showed all the connected “LED bulb T2, and the “ceiling light T1M” as offline.
So apparently even in LAN mode, it needs something or a connection to the Aqara servers, just to turn on the lights in our home’s, then we are home pressing the button’s ![]()
I personally enabled the LAN function on my Aqara M3 from the start. Based on my experience yesterday during the outage, I can say that all my automations worked perfectly.
99% on my automations working only locally.
I should mention that I have over a hundred automations saved.
Even my Philips Hue Bridge, which is connected via Matter to the M3, continued to expose all lights and LED strips without issues, even though they appeared offline in the Aqara app.
The only problems I noticed were with the Basic Guard alert system, which went offline, and my four cameras (two G3 and two G100) that were unreachable for video streaming.
Aside from that, all sensors and lights worked without any issues, even though the servers were unreachable. I didn’t perform any reset.
That’s why I can say I was quite satisfied and personally confirmed that both Zigbee and Matter continued to function properly on my main hub even without an internet connection.

I have LAN enabled however a few day back (b4 the outage) I signed out of the Aqara app just because I had not done that in awhile and just used Apple Home and HA. Everything worked just fine. I did not have any issues with anything. I have 40+ devices and 9 cameras. They all worked great.
Hello, my internet in Ukraine often disconnects, due to the “good neighboring state”, so I can say for sure that the local mode in Aqara works perfectly.
Only partly with the native app; just as well I’ve integrated everything into HomeKit and Home Assistant, as mostly the former, but certainly the entirety of the latter is 100% LAN (local) mode!
The local network mode works perfectly, automations are also executed locally, I have no problems with this.
same exact thing here. Had LAN mode enabled from the start but when the outage occurred my M3 was effectively bricked. Flashing blue light, unresponsive, automations stopped. I didn’t think to try Homekit, but since the device could not even connect to the app locally I doubt it would’ve worked.
