Aqara Popping T1M?

Is anyone else experiencing a popping sound coming from an Aqara T1M when the light is on?
Mine does this all the time and it’s becoming really annoying.

I actually think the noise is coming from movement between the light and the shade heating up. As it heats up, it’s getting to the point where it has to move in twist and creates a pop noise.

@2SC_UK Thanks for sharing your experience with the Aqara T1M ceiling light. While the reference documentation does cover certain abnormal noises for other Aqara products, such as the Bath Heater T1, which may be caused by loose installation or friction between internal components, there isn’t a specific mention of the T1M ceiling light producing a popping sound when it heats up.

Your observation about thermal expansion causing movement between the light and the shade is plausible—materials can shift slightly as they heat, sometimes leading to popping or creaking sounds. However, this specific issue isn’t directly addressed in the available troubleshooting guides for the T1M.

If other community members have experienced similar noises, it would be great to hear their input here. In the meantime, you might want to check if the fixture is firmly installed and if any parts are loose, as that can sometimes contribute to noise. If the sound persists and is disruptive, I recommend reaching out to customer service for further assistance. If you have ideas or suggestions for product improvement, feel free to submit feedback via manual customer service channels.

Let’s keep the discussion open—perhaps others have found solutions or workarounds for this!

Hello, I had this effect at the beginning. I fixed the T1m case between the ceiling and the lamp (I put a gasket not of foam rubber but of blown plastic, such as when moving goods in boxes). Now I don’t hear the crackling sound.
The crackling sound is the expansion of iron from the heating of the LED lamps, the case makes an unpleasant sound (it turns out a mini acoustic speaker).

Yes, I’m experiencing the same issue with my three T1Ms. They are mounted directly to the ceiling using three screws each. Do you think the popping sounds might stop if I install them using the included mounting bracket instead?

@gafich10 Could you please clarify exactly what you placed and where? If possible, would you mind sharing a photo? Thanks!

Hello, I can’t show it because everything is screwed in, I just put a gasket of solid propylene between the lamp and the ceiling (the bubbles are solid, dense) and screwed the lamp in. In this way, I removed the effect of a speaker when there is deformation during heating and the housing expands. You can remove this effect by tightly screwing the lamp to the ceiling (I didn’t have such an opportunity). In short, you hear the housing being expelled from the heating of the LEDs.

I’ve tried both tightening the screws firmly and loosening them to the point where the lamp was literally hanging on the three screws. In both cases, the popping noise was still present. Because of that, I’m not convinced that adding a plastic gasket between the ceiling and the metal mounting plate (where the screws are) would fully resolve the issue.

I suspect there’s a tension between the plastic diffusor and the metal casing so when it expands the plastic part pops. I will however try your suggestion.

Instead of putting it under the screws, I put a gasket between the case and the ceiling (a large area under the lamp).
