Aqara Roller Shade Driver E1 Loses Connectivity When Internet Is Off
Every time my internet connection is disabled, my Aqara Roller Shade Driver E1 stops responding to commands, even though:
It still appears as “connected” in the Aqara Home app (with strong signal strength).
The Aqara Camera Hub G3 remains powered on and locally accessible.
To restore functionality, I have to remove the E1 device and re-pair it—which is not a sustainable solution.
Troubleshooting Steps I’ve Tried:
Rebooting the Hub G3.
Ensuring the E1 firmware is up to date.
Testing physical button control (works, so the motor itself is functional).
The Hub G3 fails to maintain a stable local Zigbee connection with the E1 when internet is lost.
Possible firmware bug in either the Hub G3 or E1 regarding offline handling.
Weak Zigbee mesh (though signal strength shows as “high”).
Please advise if this is a known issue and whether a firmware update is planned. If not, what steps can I take to ensure local control works without internet?
Maybe I didn’t understand the question, but when there is no Internet, you can’t see the equipment that is connected via the Zigbee channel. I also noticed this feature: if the equipment that has a Zigbee channel (in my case, the T1 lamp) is disconnected from the power supply (100% broken Zigbee channel), it still continues to show in the application for some time that everything is OK, the lamp is not “broken”.
Also note that when the Internet is restored (possibly due to a failure of the industrial network in the house), in order for the gateway to see your device, you need to send a command to it (the gateway) from the device (I’m here), I don’t know the period of sending a periodic communication signal.
In a temperature sensor, for example, such a signal passes once an hour (temperature measurements) or at the moment of a temperature change of 0.5 °C.
Hello @vladimir_karaga
The ZigBee network is local, if you need local control from the application, then you need an m3 hub and enable the Lan control function in the settings. With Lan control, you can control devices (perform simple on/off actions) from the aqara home home screen without the Internet.
Most likely, I didn’t describe the problem correctly. In my case, I intentionally turned off the internet, and after a couple of minutes, turned it back on. All devices respond through Aqara Home, and I can control them—except for the Aqara E1 roller shade motor. In the app, it’s visible and shows a strong signal, but when I try to open or close the shade, nothing happens. The only thing that helps is removing the Aqara E1 and adding it again.
@AqaraOfficial
Sorry, but I can’t help you, I don’t have this device and therefore have no experience using it. Maybe you should contact support. support@aqara.com
By the way, do you have automation to control E1. For example, IF you press the button THEN close E1.
If so, check its operation when you cannot control E1 from the Aqara home application.
Battery-powered devices sometimes need time to return to the network, so you should wait a little while until your E1 motor immediately appears from the network, try to time its return. The support team will tell you more specifically what is wrong with your motor.
I have an automation set up to close the shade when a switch is pressed, but it doesn’t work either. I even left it overnight to allow the device to reconnect, but nothing happened—it remains unavailable. Interestingly, I also have another Aqara E1 motor for sliding curtains, and it doesn’t have this issue at all.
Reset and re-pair process
First, completely remove the Roller Shade E1 from the Aqara app. Then, perform a full factory reset on the device (press and hold the button for about 10 seconds until the light blinks rapidly).
After that, move very close to your Aqara hub, and try pairing it again from there. Once it’s successfully connected, move the device back to its final location and see if the connection remains stable.
Power supply troubleshooting
I had some strange issues with one of my E1 roller shades in the past , occasional disconnections or delays. What solved it for me was plugging it into a constant USB-C power source instead of relying only on the internal battery.
This might be something worth checking on your side as well.
I haven’t run into the same issue with my device after reconnecting to the internet. You might want to reach out to Aqara’s support team—they should be able to help! Just let them know your account info, how the problem happens, when it started, and how often it occurs. That’ll help them check things on their end.
