Aqara Sensor Integration in HomeKit

I’ve been exploring the integration of my Aqara sensors into my smart home setup, and I must say, it’s been an enlightening journey! :star2: I recently acquired a set of Aqara sensors, each equipped with both temperature and humidity monitoring capabilities. Setting them up within Home Assistant was a breeze, and I could immediately see both sensors listed under my entities. However, when I synced these sensors with my HomeKit ecosystem, I noticed something puzzling—only the temperature sensor was visible in the Home app. The humidity sensor seemed to be missing entirely! :face_with_monocle:

Initially, I was a bit concerned, thinking there might be an issue with the sensor itself or perhaps a misconfiguration on my part. I double-checked the setup in Home Assistant, ensuring that both sensors were correctly paired and recognized. Everything looked good on that front. So, why wasn’t the humidity sensor showing up in HomeKit? I decided to dig deeper.

After some research, I discovered that HomeKit has specific requirements for sensor integration. It turns out that while Home Assistant supports both temperature and humidity data from the Aqara sensors, HomeKit might only display one of them by default, depending on how the sensor is categorized. To resolve this, I needed to adjust the sensor configuration in Home Assistant to ensure both temperature and humidity data were correctly exposed to HomeKit.

Here’s what I did:

  1. Checked Sensor Configuration: I reviewed the sensor entities in Home Assistant to confirm both temperature and humidity were correctly set up.
  2. Adjusted HomeKit Settings: I made sure that the humidity sensor was explicitly included in the HomeKit integration settings within Home Assistant.
  3. Refreshed HomeKit: I restarted the HomeKit service and refreshed the sensor list in the Home app to ensure the changes took effect.

To my delight, the humidity sensor became visible in HomeKit after these adjustments! It was a relief to see both sensors working seamlessly together. This experience taught me the importance of understanding how different platforms handle sensor data and the value of thorough configuration checks. :bar_chart:

If anyone else is experiencing similar issues with sensor integration, I highly recommend reviewing your sensor configurations and ensuring all necessary settings are correctly adjusted in both Home Assistant and HomeKit. Happy integrating! :rocket:
