*NFC feature is supported on Galaxy flagship models released after 2021 (except devices running Android 14 / One UI 6.0 and above), all global A56 and A36 models released after 2023, selected A55 and A35 markets, and all global XCover Pro7 models. Galaxy Watch is not supported.
I have a Z Fold3 with everything updated but it’s not letting me tap to unlock. Only will let me use the remote commands in Wallet still. Does the lock have to update first? I’m on firmware 3.1.0.4.

Could we get a status update on UWB hands-free unlock for Samsung Galaxy devices?
When this was announced on March 2, Samsung stated UWB support would begin in April 2026, and Aqara said it would be enabled in Q2 2026. It's now late August — Q2 ended two months ago — and there has been no follow-up announcement and no user reports of it working anywhere.
My setup is fully ready:
- Aqara U400, firmware up to date
- Aeotec Smart Home Hub 2 (V4), onboarded via SmartThings/Matter
- Galaxy S26 Ultra, Android 16 (listed as UWB-supported on Samsung's own Wallet device compatibility page)
- Samsung Wallet 6.6.33, Digital Home Key added, NFC tap unlock working reliably
- UWB enabled in phone settings
So the setup itself is fine — there is simply no UWB/hands-free option anywhere in Samsung Wallet or the Aqara app.
Two questions:
1. Is the delay on Aqara's side (lock certification/firmware) or on Samsung's side (Wallet rollout)?
2. Is there a revised timeline you can share?
Even a brief "it's delayed, here's why" would be appreciated. Galaxy owners have had no communication at all since March. Thanks.

The U400 product page (Smart Lock U400 - One of The World's First Apple UWB Smart Locks – Aqara LLC) still states: “Samsung Wallet will be supported on the U400 in Q1 2026.” Q1 ended six months ago, and the Samsung Wallet integration that did ship in March was NFC only — not the hands-free UWB unlock the page’s surrounding copy is about.
Could that line be updated? Right now a Galaxy owner reading the page would reasonably conclude hands-free unlock already works on Samsung devices. That’s how I read it before buying.
I understand you can’t give a revised date. But correcting a date that has clearly passed doesn’t require one — and leaving it up is what makes the silence feel worse than it needs to.
Related: Samsung support has confirmed to me that my S26 Ultra meets all hardware and OS requirements and that UWB unlock “is not yet enabled by default for all devices and locks.” So the lock side and phone side both appear ready. If the remaining work is genuinely on Aqara’s side, saying so plainly would help. If it isn’t, saying that would help more.
I also purchased the U400 with the notion that UWB support with Samsung was around the corner. From what I’ve gathered, I think it’s an update to SmartThings that is the next step to get this going, but I have not seen anything official from either company to point to.
SmartThings wouldn’t, it would be Samsung Wallet if anything. Although I remember when the deluxe version launched in they description they made it seem as if UWB was ready to go and actually mentioned a feature that Apple Wallet doesn’t even have. This leads me to believe Aqara is cause for the holdup in the sense that their prerequisites aren’t being met.
Very disappointed that they promised Q1 and then revised to Q2 and now it’s November. We’re still not able to use UWB with Samsung. I bought the lock, a homepod and other accessories. Waste of money.
