1. Smart Lock Firmware Update – Three-State Door Logic (Existing Locks)
One of my biggest wishes for 2026 is a firmware update for existing Aqara smart locks, without requiring new hardware.
I’d like Aqara smart locks to support three clearly defined door states, especially for doors with outside ball knob + inside lever handle.
Desired door states:
1. LOCKED
– Deadbolt engaged
– Door fully locked
2. CLOSED (not locked)
– Deadbolt retracted
– Latch (jazýček) extended
– Door can be closed simply by pushing it shut (no handle rotation)
3. OPEN
– Deadbolt retracted
– Latch retracted
– Door opens automatically
– After a configurable delay, the lock can return to CLOSED state
Why this matters in daily use:
When leaving home, I want to press the keypad button and the door should fully lock.
When coming home or staying inside, I want the door to stay closed but unlocked, so I can just push it closed without turning a handle.
Current Aqara lock behavior feels optimized mainly for lever handles on both sides, but not for doors with a fixed ball knob on the outside.
Key points:
Three-state logic via firmware update
Proper support for outside ball knob / inside lever handle doors
Clear separation of latch vs deadbolt behavior

2. Automatic Gate Opening for Car Arrival
Another big wishlist item is automatic gate opening when arriving by car.
I’d love to see an official Aqara solution for gate / driveway automation, including:
• Automatic gate opening when my car approaches home
• Integration with presence detection, geofencing, or Bluetooth/UWB
• Safe relay control for gate motors
• Full HomeKit / Matter automation support
• Reliable local operation (not cloud-dependent)
This would remove the need for remotes or manual triggers and make daily arrival truly seamless.

Summary
• Smart lock three-position logic (LOCKED / CLOSED / OPEN)
• Firmware update for existing Aqara locks
• Better support for ball knob outside + lever inside doors
• Official automatic gate opening for cars
Thanks for listening — these features would greatly improve real-world usability of the Aqara ecosystem ![]()
