Aqara T2 as a Lock in HomeKit

Hi everyone,

I’m using the Aqara Dual Relay Module T2 and trying to integrate it into Apple Home/HomeKit with the Lock service type to control an electric strike/lock.

Currently, on latest firmware, the module only exposes itself to HomeKit as a Light, Fan, or Switch. This leaves it functioning as a basic on/off switch, which isn’t ideal or secure for lock mechanics.

I have two questions:

  1. Has anyone successfully worked around this to make it appear and act as a native Lock in HomeKit? Are you using Homebridge (e.g., custom service mapping), Home Assistant (template lock exposed via HomeKit Bridge), or any other setup?

  2. For anyone from the Aqara team reading this (or anyone with inside info): Are there plans to add native Lock device-type support for the T2 in an upcoming firmware update?

Thanks in advance for any tips or official updates!

Same situation here — my T2 drives an electric strike. The Home Assistant route works: create a template lock whose lock/unlock actions pulse the T2 relay (turn on, wait ~2 seconds, turn off), then expose that lock to Apple Home through the HomeKit Bridge integration. It shows up in the Home app as a real lock with proper lock/unlock states, and unlocking asks for Face ID — much safer than a switch tile that anyone can flip by voice by accident. Just make sure the strike only ever gets a short pulse and the relay can’t stay on.
