Aqara T2 Relay Worse Than T1

I replaced one of my T1 relays with a T2 dry contact and it is unusable in my automations because T2 does not expose the “is on” or “is off” trigger. Very disappointing.

Channel one is on

Channel two is on

Doesn’t work?

No such option

  • “When” condition shown
  • Automation V2
  • T2 firmware 0032
  • Dry Contact mode
  • Disconnected switch mode

Hello, you need to select the switch mode (you have a button). I made a description about the T2 relay, read it and you will understand everything. Rele T2, let's talk about it again

I saw your guide, I have a button connected, not a switch.

Then you need to make automation for the button. Give a description of what you need to do.

I have achieved what I wanted to do, by using an intermediate variable (disabling a fake automation to represent the variable value).

But this is a worse solution than before when I could make direct automations conditional on the relay state. Now I have to make double the number of automations (one positive logic one, and one negative logic one) based on the automation state fake variable instead.

As the title of the thread says, this makes T2 worse than T1.

As practice shows, automation 2.0 solves this issue without additional automation shutdowns. Please describe what you control using relay T2 (lamp, heater or something else).

Automations V2 is now disabled for me because it doesn’t support ‘all’ logic - but this is off topic for here. The lack of ‘is on’ and ‘is off’ automation trigger is the root cause of the problem.

I will replace the T2 with a T1 plus secondary dry contact relay and go back to the old version of my automation.

Agree with you 100%.
If you control only one channel, you can run the S1 button in the automation to control the L2 channel (On/Off).
L2 will work in dry mode and be controlled by the S1 button.
I don’t know if this solution will suit you.

I discovered a new way in which the T2 is worse than the T1

There is no device card that in the app for the T2 which allows simply switching one of the channels on/off. I am referring to the small widgets you can put on boards in the aqara app.

The T1 does have such a card.

Hello, are you talking about this? It seems like it is, or I’m not understanding something.

Hi, as always I say no🙂.
Everything is fine with me, maybe there is some glitch in your app, clear your phone cache.

My screenshots below as confirmation

I don’t know what to tell you man.

I don’t understand why the feature isn’t in my screenshots, but my point remains that T2 is worse than T1 in my configuration and people should be aware of these issues.

Maybe aqara can tell me how to fix this. I’m not going to clear the app cache as that would log me out of my home.

I’m talking about the temporary cache, it never crashes the program. It once helped me to return the search term in the automation log.

Regarding your problem, try to find these icons in the general list, just for fun. Maybe the problem is with the location.

Although I know you’ll say no, I won’t :slightly_smiling_face:

I checked the whole list and I couldn’t see any icons or this device at all. Maybe it’s decoupled pushbutton mode or whatever. I guess it’s impossible to know the cause of this bug. I’ll just blame myself as it’s most efficient for everyone, including aqara.

Hi, I tried all the options (button, untied, push-button) and it always shows up for me. Try searching by name, I’m just curious where it got stuck. I didn’t take a screenshot, take my word for it.

How about you take my word for it.
