Aqara temperature and humidity sensor T1 Battery issue

Just purchased an Aqara Temperature & Humidity Sensor T1 and battery lasted less than 1 month… i am very dissapointed. It is placed outdoor and the Average temperature is -1 to 5 degrees Celsius.
Is this normal or my device is faulty ?

The spec of the device says operating temperature down to -20c so it should be okay in that range.

But you’ve said it’s placed outdoors, what’s the signal strength like? I’ve found the Aqara temp sensors drain battery rather fast when they’ve got a weak connection.

I have three temperature sensors, two of them had a faulty battery out of the box. They would be dead in a month.

It’s just a battery issue, replace them and it should last a year or two. Currently using Duracell batteries, battery drops 4% a month

Well , you placed it outdoors- but you know it’s not designed for outdoor use?
I also have mine in outdoor use for years - but it’s save for rain or any other heavy outdoor damage.
So where it’s placed exactly and do you use any cover to protect it?
But maybe it’s really just the battery like @cezary806 mentioned

Hello, welcome to the forum. Often devices are sold from a warehouse where they have been stored for more than three years. This is the main reason for the rapid failure of the power supply battery.

Thanks all for feedback, i had replaced with a new battery and i will check again. The previous behaviour was that in the daytime when it’s 10+ degrees it shows 80% battery, but overnight when it gets colder battery percentage drops until it stops working. When it gets warmer again it starts to work. I did not knew this was not designed for outdoor use. Anyway, i use it protected from rain / snow / sun. And signal to the device is excellent. My understanding was that the t1 temp sensor being able to detect atmospheric pressure, was designed for outdoor use too.

Please note that extreme cold can kill lithium batteries or make them report their levels incorrectly.

I’ve several sensors outside and in winder the batterty levels drop quite drastically, then on warmer days the battery levels jump up again.

Got it now. Thanks guys. I will try to find another outdoor temperature and humidity sensor … I had switched most of my ecosystem devices to Aqara, now i am hoping that Aqara will make an outdoor temperature sensor too… Please consider my feedback.

Check, maybe your Zigbee channel just drops for some reason. My sensor is constantly placed in a freezer (-19C°÷-20°C). The batteries last almost a year. The price of the batteries is inexpensive, budget.

I’ve had this charging equation for over three months :joy:

I also hope for an outdoor series from Aqara for years!
But at all the temperature sensor works great for me too for years
Just under some circumstances it may not work fine

And the price is really good  :x2fozabcpx9xrbxmdpseb3_61:
