Is it possible to still get the full functionality of the Aqara U200 door lock when connecting directly to home assistant as opposed to using the Aqara hub? All my other Aqara devices (mostly Zigbee) are run directly through home assistant, the only use I have for the hub currently is the U200 lock and I’d like to remove it from the equation if possible.
The U200 works with a bluetooth direct connection in the aqara home app for most settings and any matter ecosystem such as home assistant with matter over thread.
yes, U200 is officially supported in HA (works with Home Assistant program) Aqara joins Works with Home Assistant - Home Assistant
I have the U200 connected to Home Assistant. Everything works without any issues. For detailed settings, I use the Aqara mobile app, which communicates via Bluetooth.
I connected the U200 directly to Home Assistant, but there are some limitations, so I decided to try the M100 hub. Unfortunately, using the U200 with the M100 does not improve the Home Assistant integration.
One key feature I need is latch retraction. If the door is closed but unlocked, you cannot retract the latch via the direct Home Assistant connection. The only workaround is to lock the door and then unlock it again, which I find inconvenient. For now, I’m using the Aqara app instead, although this isn’t my preferred setup.
Another limitation is that you don’t get any information about who has interacted with the lock — as far as I understand, this is due to limitations in the Matter standard. To access that data from remote in the Aqara app, you need a Bluetooth-enabled Aqara Hub.
Hope this helps.
Latch retraction from Home Assistant is now possible - there was an update. I’m currently running firmware version 3.0.0_0080
Thanks, good to hear. I am currently hesitant to upgrade to the beta as the last was previously pulled due to technical issues. Will still wait for a few weeks to see what early adopters report.
I’m on beta firmware from ~ November 2024 and have not encountered any problems.
