Aqara U200 lock issues

Been having issues with the U200 smart lock. Wondering if anyone else is also experiencing the same issue and have found a fix.

Every now and then, the device unlocks & locks very slowly for no reason. The quiet setting has been disabled and firmware updated. Recently it it has also been making quite a strange noise. Any help would be very appreciated.

@sgk6prrb4n It sounds like you’re dealing with some frustrating behavior from your U200—slow locking/unlocking and strange noises can definitely throw off the user experience! Let’s try some targeted troubleshooting based on common U200 issues:

First, since you mentioned the firmware is updated, let’s check the physical installation and calibration. Sometimes, if the deadbolt screws are too tight or the lock is slightly misaligned, it can cause resistance during operation (like slow movement or unusual sounds) . You might want to gently loosen the screws holding the bolt into the door (on the side) a bit to see if that eases the movement.

Next, calibration could help. For Aqara Home app users, go to the U200 settings > “…” menu > “Calibration” and try “Automatic Calibration” (or “Manual Calibration” if auto doesn’t work). Matter users can press and hold the “Set” button for 3 seconds to auto-calibrate . This often resolves bolt movement issues.

If the noise persists, it’s also worth checking the “Pull Spring Feature” in the Aqara Home app (under lock configuration). Try disabling and re-enabling it to reset the mechanism—this has helped some users with retraction/latching quirks .

Have you noticed if the slowdown/noise happens more when the door is fully closed vs. slightly ajar? That might clue us into whether it’s an alignment issue. Let us know if these steps help, or if you need more details

I’ve encountered similar issues:

  1. Even after disabling all mute modes, the mute function still turns on or off randomly.
  2. When opening or closing the door, I hear a gear slipping sound, followed by an error alert from the lock. After that, I can only open and close the door manually.
  3. In standard mode, the U200 is already very loud; at night, I can clearly hear the motor running from my room across the hall.
However, silent mode is too slow—it takes over ten seconds to open the door.
  4. I bought my lock a year ago, and it started malfunctioning after less than a year of use.
I didn’t force it open, but judging by the sound, there must be a design flaw in the internal plastic gear reduction mechanism. The motor’s torque is too high, causing excessive wear between the driven gears or the worm gear and worm shaft.
When I first got this product, I was quite surprised, but its lifespan of just one year is hard to accept.

Hi, I suppose strongly that’s a problem with the grease in the gearbox. It got sticky
