Aqara U200 - lock/unlock/calibration/unstable firmware - FATAL ISSUE

Hello,
I would like to ask for a solution or a new update that fixes the fatal error with calibration and unlocking in general.
When calibrating, the lock in the U200 rotates, therefore calibration cannot be done. When a manual calibration is done, to insert a finger or NFC device, instead of unlocking, it starts locking, which is absolute nonsense. When I do the calibration again, it starts to spin for a while, but it is absolutely unusable.
I reclaimed the lock once, got a second one and it’s been doing the same problems since the last version.
I think for what it’s worth, it should be fixed immediately. It’s not exactly something I want to leave in use when it can unlock or whatever at any time and the door will be open. This is a pretty fatal flaw that shouldn’t be repeated.

It is possible that you need to change the lock type (us, EU) to a different type than your previous choice before calibration, depending on how your lock is positioned. Try this option as it helped me in the early stages of calibration.
If this does not work, you may need to wait for a firmware update as it may be fixed.
Another option is to try closing the lock bolts (manually) and then start the calibration process.
I had this issue, but I resolved it using these methods

I am from Prague, so I using the EU. So you telling me, that may try to switch to US and make calibration or just switch and confirm choice and switch back to EU and make calibraion?

Let me know, thank you for you advice.

just select US type of lock and start calibration.
send a photo of your u200 installation. because this method is not suitable for everyone.

Here’s mine, it suits me.

Thanks for letting us know about the U200 lock issues. That definitely doesn’t sound right!

To help fix this quickly, could you:

  1. Send us a short video or pics showing what happens during calibration/unlocking?
  2. Share your Aqara account email so we can send you the latest firmware update?

Once we have those, we’ll get this sorted ASAP. Sorry for the trouble, and thanks for your patience

Same problem here latest firmware no possibility to pass the calibration process.
Any solution for this ?

I use the U200 for over a year now and I am quite pleased with it. EU with latch btw.

I can confirm the 084 firmware is unable to finish the automatic calibration. It seems as if the lock cannot find out in which direction to lock and unlock.

The easiest way I used is to make the manual calibration. Itā€˜s much quicker anyway.
After you finished the manual calibration, the lock seems to know in which direction to turn. If you must, you may recalibrate automatic afterwards.

This was much better with older firmwares.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your share!Could you please provide a video of your door lock during automatic calibration?

We’re also curious why it couldn’t complete the automatic calibration. Thank you.

No, I donā€˜t want to send a video, because I donā€˜t want to mess up my calibration again, but I will describe it.

Prerequisits: I have a EU lock with latch, the key needs to turn left to lock and right to unlock.

When the U200 begins to automatically calibrate, it turns right first. That means, that the motor spins until the latch is pulled and the door opens a bit.
Then the Motor then spins left with the door being in an undefined position. Sometimes the bolt blocks right away, sometimes it turns to the locked position completely.
In any case, the U200 assumes turning right is the way to lock (which is wrong).
So after that the calibration finishes and everything is completely messed up.

I think, the only way to avoid this, is to have a setting before calibration to tell the U200 what direction to turn for locking.

Hope this is understandable and helps you to fix the problem.
Cheers

Exactly, I don’t want to mess it up again. Yesterday, I tried to start it up again after about a month, but of course the automatic calibration didn’t work.

The motor seemed to jam again. So I had to do it manually, and I only use the lock to open it with the latch.

When it starts acting up again, I’ll probably return it for the third time.

I don’t understand what the problem is.

If the motor jams, itā€˜s most probably the lubrication of the gearbox.
It seems Aqara used the wrong oil for their first production units which is so sticky that it jams the gears when getting older. You can see that when you try to turn the knob per hand. If the knob tries to turn the complete gear incl. the motor you recognize that.
I cleaned the gears and lubricated them with a synthetic oil.
That did the trick.
There are several YT videos concerning this.
