Aqara U200 problems and feedback. Report your problems ⚠️

Hello,

We are collecting feedback to urge Aqara to solve the problems encountered starting from the v80 firmware version. Such problems include unlocking malfunctions, jams and failed calibrations, among others. It is surprising and worrying that a company of this caliber has not yet addressed and solved problems of such gravity after several months.

I have it also, it wont open completely, jammed, won’t auto lock

I am also experiencing this issue, as many Aqara users are reporting problems with the retracting latch and, occasionally, the cylinder.

I also posted about this, there’s a beta firmware that fixes these problems apparently. I was told to contact support with video proof to get the beta software

It’s not like that at all, I have the beta version v84 and it has the same, if not worse, problems. There are no internal betas. And the assistance is bad because they procrastinate and don’t give real solutions.

I sent a lot of evidence of the problem, videos, photos, diagnostic logs. But nothing, they didn’t tell me anything.

I haven’t tried the beta so can’t comment on that but I guess i won’t bother then. With mine sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t, sometimes it won’t lock and il have to unlock and lock again, but sometimes it will lock after that. It seems to forget its position or something

I’m also unable to calibrate the lock.

@AqaraBot

Dear Aqara Support Team,

I am reporting a persistent functional issue with my Aqara U200 Smart Lock that began immediately after a recent firmware update.

Device Model: Aqara U200
Current Firmware Version: 3.0.0.0085
Platform: HomeKit / Aqara M3
Installation Type: US deadbolt

Issue Description

Since upgrading the firmware approximately two months ago, the lock behavior has significantly degraded:
• During both lock and unlock operations, the motor repeatedly attempts to engage (typically three consecutive mechanical attempts).
• The operation sometimes eventually succeeds after these repeated motor sounds.
• In other instances, the operation fails entirely.
• This behavior was not present prior to the firmware update.

The issue is consistent and reproducible.

Troubleshooting Performed

I have already completed the following steps:
1. Fully charged the battery to 100%.
2. Performed recalibration multiple times (both automatic and manual).
3. Reset and reconfigured the device.
4. Verified that the mechanical lock cylinder operates smoothly when turned manually (no abnormal resistance when the device is unpowered).

Despite these efforts, the issue persists.

Observations
• The mechanical components function normally when operated manually without power.
• The issue only occurs during motorized operation.
• The timing of the malfunction correlates directly with the firmware update.
• This suggests a firmware motor control or calibration logic issue rather than a mechanical defect.

Request

Please advise on the following:
1. Is this a known firmware issue affecting U200 devices?
2. Is a firmware rollback possible?
3. Is there a beta or patched firmware available that addresses motor calibration instability?
4. If this is determined to be a hardware issue triggered by firmware changes, what is the RMA or replacement procedure?

This lock is installed on a primary entry door, so reliability is critical. I would appreciate prompt technical guidance.

Thank you for your assistance.

@home176 Thank you for sharing such detailed feedback on the U200 lock issue. It’s understandably frustrating to experience motor engagement problems after a firmware update, especially on a primary entry door.

First, let’s try a few targeted checks based on similar scenarios:

  • Pull Spring Function: In the Aqara Home app, navigate to “lock configuration” > “Pull Spring Feature” to check if this function is enabled. Try disabling it, then re-enabling it to reset the motor control logic.
  • Recalibration: Although you’ve already done this, a quick reminder: long-press the set button to trigger a fresh calibration—sometimes this helps resolve motor timing issues.

For your specific questions about whether this is a known firmware issue, rollback options, beta firmware, or RMA procedures, our customer service team can provide the most accurate and up-to-date information. Contact the Aqara Home App Customer Service Team (Profile> Help & Feedback > Customer Service) or scan the QR code:

This will be more efficient. If you do not have an Aqara Home account, “Please click here” to create a ticket.

Thanks again for your patience—we hope this gets resolved quickly

Hi @home176 … I‘m on 85 firmware with my three U200 and without any problems- how old is your lock?
Maybe your U200 has problems with the gearbox- I would make a video and send it to the Aqara support!
They can figure out if it’s a hardware issue
