Aqara U200 strange sound

I have read some posts about this, but I wasn’t expecting to be that soon. My lock already sounds like there is no grase inside it, and it’s only about 1 month old… I wouldn’t like to dismantle it for greasing this soon.

Hi , the sound is maybe little bad yes… but seems like your U200 is not mounted correctly- there’s some strange movement by turning

Hello, I don’t hear any strange sounds. Three engagements when the latch moves (three closings). As for me, everything is normal. At the end of the “stop” of the turn, as provided by the firmware. The same for me.

It is mounted on the Aqara adjustable cylinder, since it’s coming with 2 wholes in the cylinder and screws, I avoided to fix it with the 3M pads. I don’t actually see an issue on that, but the lock/unlock sound it worries me. It wasn’t there when I mounted it, sound ok for the first 2 weeks, after this is slowly start to sound like that

There is a noise that it wasn’t there for the first let’a say two weeks, after this slowly start so sound like two pieces of metal without any grease. Try to raise up the volume and pay attention to some specific point of rotation, it is not continuous but you can hear it on all 3 rotations at some point. The thing is in reality it’s more clear.

:joy: :joy: Trust me it’s there, I can hear it and i know it wasn’t there before, and it’s driving me crazy :joy:.
If you turn the volume up a little, just pay attention when the knob is in almost vertical position, there is a different sound, like 2 pcs of metal without any grease, the metal on metal scratch kind of sound.

Hi @Andrei.C , it happened to my mom’s one weeks after the first installation, the sound was caused by the adhesive coming off and scratching the door. I added some 3M double faced pads to fix it well and fill in the gap between the door and the back of the lock. I hope that this solves the problem!

HI @correoto, mine is not fixed with any double tape pads, i replaced the Yale cylinder with the Aqara cylinder made for this U200 lock, and this one come with 2 holes and screws so you can fix the lock on the cylinder without any double tape pads. It`s just sounding like friction between 2 pcs of metal without any lube or grease.

I had this problem.
Remove the three screws holding the lock onto the door, make sure the three little screws holding the back plate to the cylinder are properly adjusted. Remount the lock.

That fixed it for me.

Fitting instructions.

Hi again @Andrei.C ! I would try to fix it with double faced adhesive pads anyway, even if it’s fixed to the new cylinder, the pendular movement that I see on the video it’s not normal. Regards!

Hello, @Andrei.C .
I am not a fan of using your mounting method (small bolts + side shifters). The best way is to screw through bolts to the native lock mount (bolts are screwed in where the arrow is).
Fig.1.

If these holes do not fit your lock, use the additional insert that comes with the kit.
Fig.2.

Such a mount is more resistant to vibration of the lock during operation.

After about a year.

I can see from your video the lock is incorrectly fitted.

I’ll try to find a solution for this. I’m not a fan of double tape on the door, if you try to remove it after a while it’s not a pleasure.

I’ll try tomorrow to see if your method fits for my door, not sure how it works with that spare plate but i’ll try to check tomorrow.
