Aqara U600 on a UK Lift-to-Lock Multipoint Door – Is Drilling Required?

Hi everyone,

I’m considering installing the Aqara U600 on a UK-style lift-to-lock multipoint door, and I’d really like to hear from anyone who has already installed one.

My main question is: does the U600 installation require drilling any new holes in the door?

My current door has a multipoint lock where you need to lift the handle upwards before locking. Ideally, I would like to install the U600 using the existing holes without making any permanent changes to the door.

I previously tried another smart lock installation where an M5 sleeve/tube was too thick to fit through the existing hole in my door, so I’m a little concerned that I may have the same problem with the U600.

For anyone who has installed the U600 on a similar UK multipoint door:

  • Did you need to drill any new holes?
  • Could you use the existing handle and lock holes?
  • Did the U600 connecting sleeve/spindle fit through the existing door holes?
  • Did you need to enlarge any existing holes?
  • Does the U600 work well with a lift-to-lock multipoint mechanism?
  • Were there any compatibility issues that were not obvious from the official measurements?

If possible, I’d especially appreciate feedback from people who installed it themselves rather than replacing the whole multipoint lock mechanism.

Thanks! Any photos or installation experience would be really helpful.

Well , it’s hard to give you the correct answer! Generally it’s developed to fits for many doortypes ( I didn’t had to drill - even it’s a German door :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:)
But if you could send pics and measurements we can figure out if it’s necessary or not
