I’ve got a V1 Switch Display with a cracked display and purchased a complete replacement.
My questions are…
Can I just change the front cover / display?
Are the 2 parts linked to each other (specific) or can they be swapped over?
Which part has the “intelligence”?
The back part is the magnetic electric switch and the power supply. The front part has the microcontroller, screen and the buttons. You should be able to just swap the front part
So if I just swap the front part, will it become a new Aqara Device?

Impressively, I received an email from Aqara this morning in response to this post.
Just wanted to copy their reply here in case it helps anyone in the future…
"The product is designed and certified as a complete unit. At present we only support replacement at the whole-device level, not swapping front covers or mixing parts from different units.
Practically this means:
• You should install and use the new switch as a complete unit.
• We do not recommend moving the front/display from one unit to another or interchanging covers between devices, as this may affect safety, reliability, and warranty.
