Aqara W600 Preview testing

As one of the lucky members that got a Aqara W600 Radiator Thermostat here are my thoughts sofar on the device.

Packaging is clear and good as always, only (minor) thought is that the cardboard interior is very snug in there so you have to use a bit of force to get to the parts below the device.
Packing says it should work with Alexa, Home Assistant, Apple Home, SmartThings, Google Home and uses Matter / Thread.

It has adapters for 6 type of valves (RA / RAV / RAVL / CAL / GIA / M28) and will fit directly on M30x1.5 as it is in my case.
A very short manual (see online) and with a “do not lick/eat/stick it in your eye warning”.

The device itself is very clean. There is hardly anything on it. And when you press it it will show you the current temperature, when you turn the set temperature.

:heart_eyes:BIGGEST DIFFERENCE, it is absolutely quiet. It is so quiet that to hear the motor turn you really need to press your ear up against it. Amazing!

So it will be a great device but…

… first I need to be able to add it.

My phone is connected to the same Wifi as my M3.

The app sees it immediatly.

I prefer to use Zigbee and add it to my M3 hub and then will bridge it to my SmartThings home.

First problem, can’t switch it to Zigbee. “Download failed Code: -1002” Tried directly scanning the code, not working.

Okay, let’s try Matter. Select M3 hub. “AqaraHome is trying to add this accessory” after a while “Accessory adding not possible”.
Also with code or Matter QR code, same problems…

So I now have a radiator thermostat but it is not smart. YET, because I’m sure Aqara is going to help me or fix the problem if there is one.

Thank you for that detailed overview and I have the same experience. Setup in the Aqara app is not yet possible, despite it detecting the device for setup.
Setup directly in Apple Home was, at least for me, very easy and quick, though.

Looking forward to some updates and giving the Zigbee features a try.

I’m gonna try directly into SmartThings now…

Also no luck. Similair problem with my Nuki doorlock, I could not add that via Matter, only on my old phone.
However I had no problem adding the M3 hub via Matter. And it looks to be the same problem here.

Here’s how I overcame the inability to connect, and so far it only works via thread to M3

Thank you for the feedback!
A restart did not help in my case, also no forced reboot of the bridge, M2.
I thought maybe this one is not compatible with the new device but I see no mention of that on the product page plus the app sees the device and fails during the setup. Let’s see if things improve by next week…
