Last week I placed an order for 7x Aqara E1 radiator thermostats (to be used on radiators in the UK with upwards facing valves at the bottom of the radiator).
With the intent to have them running on Home Assistant.
Two days later i get an email from Aqara mentioning the opportunity to get a trial unit of the new W600 radiator thermostat.
My question is, are there confirmed differences between the two?
I’ve put my name down for a W600, but it would be good to know what the difference is between the two (including any common issues with the E1 which are hoping to be rectified with the new one).
The E1’s all arrived today. I’d love to know a comparrison to help decide if I should I send them all back and hold out for the W600s, or keep them and just have one W600, along with E1’s on the rest.
Hello, the basic one in W600 is M30, M28 is an adapter. Algorithm and settings of another generation taking into account the shortcomings of E1. The product is currently being tested.
The biggest difference seems to be on the software side: more than 3 time periods for schedule. Is there any chance that E1 will have this feature with firmware upgrade? Currently I am using automation based on time to accommodate 5 different periods, but is not that convenient as schedule.
Good point. I don’t use HA, so only referred to Aqara Home. So in HA it doesn’t matter, you can set up whatever you want?
If so, there should be no issue with adding this functionality for E1s.
On the screenshot attached there are four time periods in smart schedule in comparison to three that are currently availible for E1 in Aqara Home.
Hello, welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, the E1 will not get a smart schedule like the W600.
The W600 has various settings, the main one for me is adjusting the operation of the W600 relative to the set temperature (as an addition to calibration).
Hey! Any chance the W600 will release this winter? I see the trial version has begun. Any guess on the ETA based on previous launch of products? Thanks!
I also had the E1 thermostats and was actually satisfied. Except for the quality: The screws for the actuator broke on all the thermostats and they no longer regulated. - If the new W600 is only being tested in the next few weeks, I wonder when they will be released. In spring? It’s already cold in Germany and we have to heat.
I have since purchased a Tado X. They are good quality, but there are hardly any options: I can’t even use them for automation with the Aqara Door Sensor, and I haven’t been able to connect them with Matter in Aqara so far. Tado is a cult for me… And so I’m also waiting for the new W600s.
If you have some another Thermostats, send E1 back, the W600 would be much better.
Hello, thank you for the positive feedback on the E1, I also had a problem with the screws, I changed them to longer bolts, TVR Aqara E1 works stably after repair
I have many E1s.
They are good devices. A bit noisy, maybe.
But the big issue I have in terms of integration with HA is that they are not publishing neither the current state nor how much open is the valve.
It is a big limitation when trying to build integrations with the heating system.
I have been considering to move to another brand, let’s see if things have changed with the W600.
I’ve also asked @AqaraOfficial for the ability to control the aqara valves in terms of percentage open within the Aqara ecosystem, but they have not responded to my request.
I think they never actually add new features to already released devices, so I hope that W600 has this ability.
