Aqara Water Leak Sensor: How I Saved My Basement from Disaster

So last week, I legit dodged a total disaster thanks to the Aqara Water Leak Sensor. I figured I’d share in case anyone’s still on the fence about grabbing one.

Background: We had a crazy storm, and somehow the sump pump in the basement decided to take a nap at the worst possible time. I didn’t notice anything until I got a push notification at like 1:42am — “Water leak detected.” Thought it was a glitch or something. Went downstairs, and yep… water starting to pool fast around the pump area.

The sensor is right on the floor next to the pump. Thank god it went off early, I managed to get the pump restarted and mop up before things got seriously bad. Probably saved me thousands in damage, no exaggeration.

I’ve got it connected through the Aqara Hub to HomeKit, so the alert hit my phone instantly. Didn’t even hear it beeping until I got down there. Honestly one of the most low-key lifesaver devices I’ve ever used.

If you’ve got a basement, laundry room, or anywhere water could cause chaos, don’t sleep on this little guy. Took me like 2 minutes to set up.

Anyone else had similar “save my a**” moments with this sensor? Curious how y’all are using yours.
