Aqara X SmartThings Giveaway!

Never use a Aqara X SmartThings. Have had a 2nd generation Samsung SmartThings hub as my primary smart home hub

My Smart Home Journey with Aqara & SmartThings

As someone who is about to become a father for the very first time, building a safe, smart, and connected home has become much more than just a hobby for me – it’s part of preparing for one of the most important moments of my life.

Even though our baby is expected at the end of next month, I’ve already set up my Aqara devices inside SmartThings to create the perfect environment for when the little one arrives. One of the setups I’m most proud of is using my Samsung Smart TV together with the Aqara Camera E1 as a baby monitor. With SmartThings, I can simply switch on the TV and instantly check the live feed from the nursery, without needing to reach for my phone. Knowing that I’ll be able to keep an eye on my baby in real time gives me peace of mind, and that’s priceless.

I’ve also integrated all my Aqara switches and smart bulbs into SmartThings, so I can create custom automations with just a tap or voice command. For example, when the camera detects motion in the nursery, the lights automatically dim to a warm, gentle glow. I can also set bedtime routines where the lights gradually fade, helping to create a calm environment – not only for the baby, but for us as parents too.

What makes this experience truly special is how seamless the Aqara and SmartThings ecosystem feels. It’s not just about convenience; it’s about creating a smarter, safer, and more loving home for my growing family. Knowing that everything works together – the sensors, the lights, the camera, and even the TV – gives me confidence that I’ve made the right choice.

I can’t wait to expand this setup even further once the baby arrives. I’m already imagining automations like turning on a nightlight when I step into the nursery at 3 AM, or receiving an alert if the baby stirs while we’re in another room. Thanks to Aqara and SmartThings, I feel more prepared and excited than ever to start this new chapter.

I use Homeassistant at home.

Since I’ve been playing with it for several years now, I’ve accumulated quite a few gateways because my smart home has been constantly expanding—lights, heaters, blinds, shutters, curtains, vacuum cleaner, alarm, sockets, TV, decoder, remote controls, speakers, locks, air conditioning—I’m scared of how much I have. I already have a Xiaomi gateway, Switchbot, and Aqara M3. I haven’t used Smart Things much because I’ve only had my Samsung for a short time, but I can see that a lot of things can be transferred there.

I don’t know if another gateway is a good idea for me, but it’s possible that it could solve the problems of adding more devices for my next ideas and also allow me to explore the possibilities of Smart Things.

My first introduction to SmartThings was with their V2 hub. While it was good I outgrew it as I expanded into Apple Home which led me to Aqara amongst other brands. Years later I would try it again with their SmartStation. For my post I decided to show how easy it is to start with SmartThings and Aqara so a fresh start was needed. With the hub reset I set out to start as a new user.

I started by going into the Aqara Home app to turn matter sharing on the M3 hub which has a few of my Aqara sensors bound to it for this example. When I opened the SmartThings app it immediately found it and went through the steps.

Here are the pictures in one video as they may not show properly on every browser

I then set off to make my first (new) routine using my Samsung washer.

Finally I set off to add Aqara cameras using the partner smart link option in SmartThings.

All of this was seamless and worked great.

The great thing about using a hub like SmartThings is that it allows you to use your already excellent Aqara devices via the hub or using thier partner link to trigger devices from other brands or as in the example above have something happen when your Samsung devices have a change in status.

Having an updated hub would allow even more options and provide a better building block to making your smart home even better.

At the top of the Aqara X SmartThings Giveaway! post it says:
“we will randomly select 4 lucky winners from our community”
and then it says:
" Pro tip: Posts that are well-written, with both text and photos, have a higher chance of being selected."

Which is it, random or selected?

They may go through the posts and select a number of posts that they believe have everything they want inputting the user names into a randomized selector that chooses 4 winners.

They may just input user names and let the randomized selector choose four names.

Not saying that’s it, just what I’m thinking.

Let’s try one more smart thing from @AqaraOfficial !!
I started with the smart door bell and wish to go on to create a ecosystem from @aqara_life !!

I added my Aqara devices to the SmartThings app and it changed how I run my home. The 3D Map view is my command center. I can see every switch and light at a glance and tap once to set a scene or shut everything down for the night. Automations feel instant and keep working even if the internet has a bad day. The Aqara sensors have been rock solid, and the family actually uses the scenes because they’re simple. I’m still expanding the setup and love that it’s ready for Matter and Thread.

Starting on Aqara X SmartThings, so still figuring it out

Hallo
Das hört sich richtig gut an
Ein hin für alles

I have the Aqara U200 and it’s an amazing device – I don’t need to carry my house keys anymore, which makes everyday life so much easier. :tada: The new hub would be a perfect extension for me, as it would allow me to unlock remotely and further connect my smart home through SmartThings. :key::sparkles:

Hello Friends !
I am a big fan of Samsung technology and therefore use both SmartThings and the first generation Aeotec Smart Home Hub. This is an excellent device, I am very glad that I bought it and use it to this day. It is very versatile and allows you to connect Zigbee, Z-wave, Matter (Thread and wifi) devices. But the new Aeotec Smart Home Hub 2 is just a masterpiece.

My wife and child use the app on the Samsung TV. They love to turn on everything from the big TV screen. I have a large number of different devices added to SmartThings.

I have most of all Aqara devices, hubs, leak sensors, temperature and humidity sensors, motion sensors of all models, E1 and W500 thermostats, switches, sockets, bulbs, relays with and without dry contacts, T1 spotlights, track lights, LED strip controllers, T1 LED strips, T1M lamp, ball valve actuators, cameras, presence sensors and these are all Aqara. I also use Ikea devices and connected the DIGIGERA hub via the Matter Bridge to SmartThings and Aqara home.

I hope for good luck in that contest, the new hub will be a great addition to my big multi-house. I want to wish good luck to all the participants of this wonderful giveaway and I wish everyone Victory.

I’m still trying a lot of brand to find exactly what I want. This hub would me a good add.

I would like to try this!! I use SmartThings for all my Smart Home devices and Automations

Thank you. I really appreciate the recognition. I hope I win the contest.

Honestly.

I hate when I have to use multiple ecosystems. No company deals with all sort of devices but Samsung’s SmartThings offer integration with most types of AGD devices and Aqara has excellent IOT Sensors and devices.

Would absolutely love to try it out and see how well SmartThings integrates with Aqara. The possibility of having both dryer, washing machine and all Aqara switches and sensors sounds truly amazing.

I currently use Aqara light switches to manage my iot lighting, sensors (light, vibration, presence, humidity & temp).
For Samsung I own previously mentioned devices + TV & smarttags. I love being able to use them to manage other devices!

Thank you for the compliment, it is definitely something that can be expanded on. It’s amazing how these two systems can work together to make your home more efficient.

I have been using Google Home but looking to transfer ecosystem due to the lack of support and automation in the Google Home space.
I have some SmartThings appliances and this would be great to further expand my smart home and switch over to SmartThings.
