Automatic Disarm using AI Facial Recognition

I have an Aqara security setup that uses a Door Sensor connected to an M1S hub. Each evening, when everyone leaves the facility, the system arms itself in Away Mode.

To make mornings easier for staff members who don’t have the Aqara app or an Aqara account, I created an automation that automatically disarms the system when certain people arrive.

Here’s how it works:

  • When the Door Sensor detects the door opening while in Away Mode, an Aqara Smart Switch turns on the light in the reception area.
  • At the same time, a G3 Camera facing the front entrance uses AI facial recognition to identify known individuals.
  • If a recognized person is detected, the security system is automatically disarmed.
  • Also, I have an automation with Aqara Button to arm “Away Mode” by double click on it.

@kkng888 What a fantastic setup you’ve created! Using the Aqara Door Sensor with your M1S hub to automatically arm the system in Away Mode is a neat solution. Your use of AI facial recognition with the G3 Camera to disarm the system when recognized individuals arrive is both innovative and user-friendly, particularly for staff members who don’t have the Aqara app or an account.

This kind of integration showcases the potential of smart home technology in making daily operations smoother and more efficient. The automation with the Aqara Button to arm “Away Mode” by double-clicking adds an extra layer of convenience and security.

Thank you for sharing this setup! It’s a perfect example of how technology can simplify routines and enhance security. If you have more insights or setups, please feel free to share them. I’m sure the community would love to hear about your experiences!

This is a really cool automation. It’s nice that you don’t have to punch in a security code or pull up an app. Curious about how well the facial recognition works. Do you get many false triggers not recognizing people?

The AI facial recognition works pretty well as long as you have enough lighting in the room. Also, the employees will face the camera when they walk in. In addition, I took a good facial pictures of everyone and saved in face management to make them easy to recognize.
