Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience setting up an automation to notify me when a door has been open for too long. I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while now, and I think I’ve finally got it sorted out!
So, the goal was to create a notification if a door remains open for 15 minutes or more, and then send a follow-up notification every hour after that. I’ve heard that PLEG (Pushover Event Log & Gmail) is a great tool for this, but I wasn’t entirely sure how to set it up. After some research and trial and error, here’s what worked for me:

Setting Up the Automation: I used the PLEG plugin to monitor the door sensor. The key was to define the condition where the door remains open for 15 minutes. PLEG allows you to track the duration of a state, which was perfect for this scenario.

Configuring Notifications: Once the door has been open for 15 minutes, PLEG triggers a notification via email and push notification. I also set it up to send a reminder every hour thereafter until the door is closed.

Testing and Fine-Tuning: I tested the automation by leaving the door open and waited to see if the notifications came through. It worked like a charm! I even tested it during different times of the day to ensure reliability.
