Automating Garage Door Closure with Smart Sensors

Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to figure out a way to automate my garage door closure to prevent any accidental openings. I’ve heard that using smart sensors and automation rules can make this process seamless! Here’s what I’ve come up with so far:

First, I set up a motion sensor near my garage door. This sensor detects when the door is opened and sends a signal to my smart hub. Then, I created a rule in my automation app that triggers a notification on my phone if the garage door remains open for more than 5 minutes. This gives me a chance to manually close it if needed.

If I don’t close it within 10 minutes, another rule kicks in to automatically close the garage door. It’s all about finding the right balance between convenience and security. I’ve also considered integrating this system with my existing smart home setup, like connecting it to my security camera for added peace of mind.

Does anyone have tips on optimizing this setup? Maybe adding a status indicator or voice notifications? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences with similar automations!

Cheers,
