Hey everyone! I wanted to share my experience with automating my morning routine using SmartThings. It’s been a game-changer for me, and I hope it might inspire some of you to try something similar.
So, here’s the setup: I have a Phillips Hue hub integrated with my SmartThings setup. I’ve been using the “Good Morning” Routine to turn on some lights when motion is detected in the morning. The idea is that as soon as I start moving around, the lights should come on automatically.
At first, I was having some issues getting it to work consistently. The routine would trigger manually, and the motion sensor was picking up movement, but it wasn’t activating automatically during the designated time window. After some troubleshooting, I realized I needed to adjust the settings under the Routine’s additional options. Specifically, I had to ensure that the “Automatically perform ‘Good Morning!’ when…” was set correctly with the right time window and devices.
Once I got that sorted out, it started working like a charm! Now, every morning, the lights come on at just the right time, and it feels like a seamless start to my day. I’ve also started exploring other routines and automations, like adjusting the thermostat or turning on some background music, all through SmartThings.
It’s amazing how these little tweaks can make such a big difference in daily life. I’m definitely looking forward to expanding my setup even further and seeing what other cool things I can automate!
If anyone has tips or suggestions for enhancing morning routines, I’d love to hear them! Happy automating everyone! ![]()
