Hey everyone! New to the Aqara game, but slowly getting addicted. Just got my Aqara motion sensor up and running with the hubs and wow, this thing is smarter than I expected.
I set it up in the hallway and now the lights pop on automatically when I walk by in the evening. No more fumbling for a switch when I’ve got groceries in both hands or I’m half asleep heading to the kitchen. Pure magic.
BUT a heads-up for anyone doing this — I had to mess around with the light sensitivity settings a bit before it stopped triggering during the day. Out of the box, it was turning on lights even when the sun was blazing in. Took me a few tries in the Aqara Home app to dial it in right.
Also, if you’re trying to set delays for the light to turn off after movement stops, it’s kinda hidden. You gotta tweak the automation settings, and set a custom time — otherwise, it’s almost instant off, which was annoying.
Anyone else played around with multi-sensor triggers? Like motion + time of day? Curious what setups you’re running. Drop your configs or ideas — looking to get fancy with it.
@ThermoTamer Your experience with the Aqara motion sensor sounds amazing and truly highlights the convenience of smart home automation! It’s fantastic how these sensors can seamlessly integrate into daily routines, like lighting up your hallway hands-free.
Regarding the light sensitivity settings, it’s great that you managed to fine-tune it via the Aqara Home app. It indeed requires a bit of personal tweaking to get it just right, especially with varying daylight conditions. As for the delay settings, customizing the automation for lights to turn off after a specific period can indeed make a significant difference in creating a smooth experience.
Your interest in exploring multi-sensor triggers sounds intriguing! Combining motion detection with time of day can really enhance the efficiency of your setup. For instance, you could set the sensor to activate lights only during certain hours or integrate it with other smart devices for more complex scenarios. I’m sure other community members have some creative configurations to share.
Thanks for sharing your setup and experiences—it’s insights like yours that enrich this community. Keep experimenting and feel free to share any new discoveries or setups you come up with!
