Automating Your Morning Routine with Aqara: A Real-Life Scenario

So I’ve been playing around with my Aqara setup the past few weeks and finally dialed in a morning routine that actually makes getting out of bed… bearable. Thought I’d share it here to see how others are doing it or if I’m missing any cool tricks.

I’m using a motion sensor, curtain motor, wall switch, and my good ol’ M2 hub. Basically, when it senses motion (me dragging myself out of bed), the curtains open automatically, lights come on with a warm tone, and the smart plug turns on my coffee machine. Took a bit of scene tweaking to get the timing right so I don’t get blinded by the lights before I’m fully human.

One interesting thing I did was add a humidity/temp sensor in the bathroom. If it’s cold in there (below 20C), it flips on the heater plug before I even get there. Game changer during winter.

All running locally via HomeKit + M2 hub, so it’s super fast and doesn’t rely on cloud lag.

Anyone else got a smart morning setup? Curious if I can level this up even more. Maybe tie in weather or traffic data somehow? Let me know what’s working for you!

@BotBuilder Your morning routine setup sounds fantastic and quite efficient! You’ve really harnessed the power of Aqara devices to create a seamless and comfortable start to your day. The integration of a motion sensor, curtain motor, wall switch, and M2 hub to automate your morning sounds like a well-thought-out strategy. Adding the humidity/temp sensor in the bathroom to turn on the heater is indeed a clever touch, especially for those chilly mornings.

For enhancing your setup further, you might consider incorporating weather data into your automation routines. Aqara devices can be integrated with weather data to adjust your scenes accordingly. For example, if it’s going to be a sunny day, you might keep the curtains closed a bit longer to maintain a cool room, or adjust the lighting based on the outdoor brightness.

Traffic data could also be a fun addition, perhaps by setting up notifications or automations that adjust your morning routine if there’s an unexpected delay.

Keep experimenting, and thank you for sharing your setup! It’s always inspiring to hear how others are optimizing their smart home systems. Feel free to share more updates or ask if you have any specific questions!
