Automation for a lazy dog #CESShowcase

I could never manage to teach my Schnauzer Marcie to use the dog flap in my office, so an Aqara Roller Shade Driver to the rescue!

Very nice idea! Is the flap opened by a vibration sensor?

I considered that, but I figured it would open every time I open the door, so no, it’s just me pressing a switch in Home Assistant when she wants out.

Haha! That’s hilarious :joy:
I like the idea :enqjol2bgmcitcrmcmgdyz_61:

That’s true, I hadn’t thought of that. So you should buy a camera with animal detection. Pressing a switch? That’s absolutely not an option!

Yes! I have thought about motion sensors or something that could detect her specifically

Marcie has to contact him by email of course :joy::see_no_evil:

It is an analogue email with the subject line “Bark three times”, which is recognised by a G5 Pro camera that then opens the flap automatically without the need to press a switch  :innocent:

Haha! Oh she lets me know alright! It IS by barking, but not by email! :joy:

Hey! Yes, I’d be happy for you to use it! By the way, as a winner, I can’t seem to PM you - can you PM me so I can reply with my details?

Does the door flap close fully? It doesn’t appear to be fully closed in the video.

It does, but because it lowers gently, instead of flapping down, sometime it sits on the seal for a min or two before dropping into place.

That’s brilliant!
