I just purchased the FP2 sensor. What the best way to integrate it into my HomeKit smart home?!
The FP2 is my first Aqara device, so I don’t have an Aqara hub. I use Matter to add it to HomeKit . I have it in my bathroom which is probably overkill, but with a few automations it has worked well. I have a Hue smart bulb in the light fixture. When it’s night time I use the nightlight setting for the bulb. That way the light doesn’t turn on fully bright.
Hi @apez53
If you are a beginner I would start with setting up the presence light switch. First, read the AI settings for precise detection and to avoid phantoms.
Place the sensor according to the instructions.
Adding a sensor to HK is very simple, turn on the sensor and scan the code in HK.
To set up the map and all the functions, you need to connect it to Aqara home and then add it to HK.
The best automations for me that use the Aqara FP2 are the ones which directly help me in some activity. The FP2 doesn’t just detect motion and presence, at also tells you what part of the room you are in. If I am in my TV chair, that means something different than if I am on the stairs, or at the counter in my kitchen. If you can (yourself) can infer activity from location and movement, then your automations can respond to your implied intent. This gets much more powerful with multiple sensors of different types. Even simple ones like time of day. I use Home Assistant for automation.
Have fun!
