Blink Cameras: A Journey from Setup to Satisfaction

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my experience with Blink cameras over the past few months. It’s been quite a journey, and I’m thrilled with how things have turned out. :package::sparkles:

I started with a Blink Mini Indoor Pan-Tilt Camera, and I must admit, the first few days were a bit frustrating. The camera was blurry, and I couldn’t figure out why. I tried resetting it, adjusting the settings, and even unplugging it, but nothing seemed to work. I was starting to think maybe it was a faulty unit. Then, I came across some tips in the forums about optimizing settings for indoor use. Turns out, I just needed to tweak the focus and lighting adjustments a bit. Once I did that, the clarity improved dramatically! :raised_hands:

Another thing I wanted to mention is the motion detection feature. I have my camera set up in an upstairs window facing my cul-de-sac, and it was only picking up vehicles, not people. I adjusted the motion sensitivity to the max and set up specific motion zones. Now, it’s much better at detecting people, though it still occasionally misses someone. I guess it’s a balance between sensitivity and false alarms. :male_detective::male_sign:

I also wanted to give a shoutout to the Blink app’s sleep function. It’s been a lifesaver for reducing notifications at night. However, I noticed that my Alexa Echo devices were still announcing motion detections even when the app was in sleep mode. I reached out to Blink support, and they mentioned that Alexa notifications are controlled separately. After a bit of tweaking, I managed to silence those alerts. Now, I have a much quieter night’s sleep!

Overall, I’m really happy with my Blink setup. The cameras are reliable, the app is user-friendly, and the community support has been invaluable. If anyone is considering Blink cameras, I highly recommend them! Just be prepared to spend a bit of time tweaking settings to get everything working perfectly. :raised_hands:

Thanks to everyone in the community for all the helpful tips and advice! You guys are amazing! :raised_hands::sparkles:
